Why are there so many people praising it in their reviews?

This is literally one of the worst, most nonsensical films ever made. And yet, SOMEHOW, every reviewer keeps giving it 10/10 and praising it for being "deep," "intelligent," and "Unique!" Have I fallen into some sort of alternate universe or something?

I guess it's just a joke. Just read the rave reviews of "My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0490668/?ref_=fn_al_tt_8
I bet this is a toned down version of that.

You think people are joking about this? I guess it wouldn't really surprise me; a lot of the ways people have described this film come off as overly pretentious and reading too much into the film. I suppose that all of these people COULD just be pulling a massive joke.

Bollywood sucks!! and treat animals like slaves.

Why can't you just accept that people have different opinions????

I think anyone (mcfjr42) who gives 'The Hunger Games 2' 10/10 is actually living in an alternate Universe - I hate that movie but that's just my... wait for it... it's good... opinion!!!!

reply

So it's your opinion I live in an alternate universe because I like a movie you dislike?

I fully realize it's my opinion that this movie is bad, not a fact. What annoys me is all of the pseudo-intellectual analysis that has sprung up from it. Everyone who has seen this movie seems to become some armchair philosopher, claiming this movie is "so deep" and "intelligent." I haven't seen so many people shoved so far up their own @ss since I took a snobby "Essentials of Film" course my first semester of college.

I know that probably didn't come off in my original post, but in case you haven't noticed a lot of time has passed since then, giving time to reflect. I wouldn't judge anyone for liking this film, but I'm going to get annoyed when people start trying to convince me this film is some amazing, intelligent meditation on whatever the hell they think it symbolizes.

I thought this movie was ridiculous. They trick the viewer multiple times, to the point you have no idea what's real, and stop giving a *beep* about the movie. Unless your movie is A Perfect Getaway, where the movie tricks you for a specific reason, tricking your viewers a multiple times without any real objective but just to mess with us is just stupid.
Besides that, the movie was average, not terrible, not great either. It deals with something that is happening right now and that's good but the way the whole movie was set up wasn't that interesting to watch.

reply

If you look at the overly positive reviews, they usually come from people who haven't posted anything else anywhere, which is slightly suspicious.
So probably people who worked on around or anywhere else related to the movie.

reply

That might explain some, but not all. What I think is that this movie is the Neon Genesis Evangelion of bad thrillers, in that it turns half the audience into pseudo-intellectual armchair philosophers who think they're smart by saying the movie is "deep" and "intelligent" and that they have some great understanding of society or whatever after watching it.

The big difference is NGE had giant monsters fighting giant mechs to even out the faux-philosophical bullcrap. The Tall Man has nothing.

True enough. It's just irritating to see people try and convince everyone this movie is some philosophical masterpiece when it's just stupid beyond belief.

You must enjoy arty movies then. I watch alot of films like loads. Because of the amount of movies i watch i can predict the twist well before we get there. This movie sucker punched me from nowhere. regardless if you agree with the idea of what the company was doing the film itself is a wicked twist and for that its a great movie. i love films with twists they make a good film great for me.
check out frailty or life of david gail. or for no twist but shock moment go with the mist.
