If this was how Marilyn actually was like...

...then I don't really get all the hype for her. She seemed like a very self-absorbed, dramatic person who only used people in order to make her feel special. I also think she's not a really good actress and hated how try-hard she seemed with the whole giggly thing she had going on and that annoying breathy, baby talk. I can't believe those men ate that stuff up.

What are we supposed to like about Marilyn?

Marilyn was loved (as still is) by many because she played the perfect woman perfectly! Flirty, beautiful, naive, upbeat, etc. Men simply fell for Marilyn Monroe and not Norma Jean.
I personally think she was a fantastic actress. The first movie of hers that I saw was Bus Stop, and I think that movie is just god awful. But I watched the whole thing simply because I couldn't take my eyes off her. When there were scenes without her in it, I was quickly reminded of how bad the movie was. But when she was on screen again, I quickly forgot it.
If you're interested in seeing one of her better movies, I suggest How to Marry a Millionaire.

I remember catching Norma in a quick one minute scene in a early film (can't remember what the film was)but I just could'nt keep my eyes off her,she was like a magnet...and for me to still remember this unexpected suprise after 20 years goes to show the woman had something enchanting about her.
