Jane Fonda is so airbrushed on that poster. She looks 40.

I really have no comment on the movie, I just had to laugh at the poster. I was trying to figure out who the actress was just from seeing it on the main page.

Wow I thought exactly the same thing, then found it was Jane and looked at her current pics on IMDB...... what a fake airbrushed poster as the OP said. Frances actually can look as pretty as this fake Jane does on the poster.

reply

Haha, as if people still used airbrushes.

reply

she looks younger than Keener in the poster.

I arrived at this page the same way. Like burkhill, I thought it was a heavily airbrushed Frances McDormand. Turns out it's an alternative reality version of Jane Fonda. I've seen some serious airbrushing before, but this takes the cake.

reply

I thought it was an airbrushed Felicity Huffman; I couldn't figure out why she wasn't included in the cast list. Now I know why.

She may well have had a lot of work, but she does look her age, every year of it. And that's fine by me.

P.S. Name me an actress that isn't airbrushed to perfection on a poster - then the OP's point would have more valididty.

Considering six people thought the exact same thing from seeing it on the main page and posted about it on this specific board within a seven hour period, I'd say the comment is perfectly valid.

Nice try though.

reply

Considering six-million-people-plus used to believe the earth was flat, and they built entire 'sciences' around it, which survived for hundreds of years, I'd say the validity of the original comment is still nil.

Haha. You know you have no argument to stand on so you completely change the subject to something else entirely.I accept your fold.

Nobody here is ripping your idol Jane. We're just saying she is ridiculously airbrushed in that poster, and doesn't even resemble herself. Yes, we know others are airbrushed too but this isn't about that, as much as you try to change the subject to other things. Airbrushing can look good sometimes, and others look ridiculous. This would fall under the latter.

And 7-1 shows I'm right. Thanks.

Cool. Does 19-3 prove you're Jesus? Or just that you can fly?

You mean you're not Jesus? Oh don't tell me 7-1 means you're Spider Man again?

I just read the movie review in The New York Post. So, so movie review. The Post compared it to "On Golden Pond." Jane in the Henry Fonda role, this time. I was taken aback by Jane's appearance in the poster. Has she been air-brushed? Photo-shopped? She doesn't look her age (70's), but rather in her 50's. What, in the movie she plays an aging hippie? I'd go skinny-dipping with her!!

the face may look 50,but the body is still 70...no you wouldnt.

Why not, I'm 63?

Other than the three generation *retreat* setting, I can't say I agree that there's any similarity to "On Golden Pond"! Of course in any family dynamics movie there will be generational differences, but Golden Pond was about severe, lifelong disfunction, and this film is more about ideological differences, and done with humor in a light-hearted atmosphere. It also had several sub-relationships and additional characters that Golden Pond did not have. I really enjoyed it, myself!

reply

Same here, couldn't believe it when I read it was Fonda.

reply

I can't speak to the poster as I haven't seen it, but she looks fabu-lish in the film itself! I've seen her in a few recent interviews and I think, work or no work (& you can't tell like most of them!), she's a beautiful woman and she wears it well!!

reply

The poster is right nest to the title of the film. Click on to enlarge it. Most have noticed Jane has no wrinkles on her face. However, I will say that she definitely looks younger than her age in the movie. She's a beautiful woman, and keeping fit adds to her appearance. Perfect casting for this film.
