Ryan Gosling would have made a Good Captain America after watching the trailer...

This looks like Winter Soldier 2.5, which isn't that bad a of thing. But what's interesting is that Ryan Gosling was basically depicted in the trailer as his co-star's eponymous' box office hit hero.

With his physique, straight-laced demeanor and ability to turn up his intensity, I actually think Gosling could have made for a good Captain America. I wonder if he was ever in the running? He probably would have turned it down, but he would have certainly looked the part, and I could TOTALLY see him knocking the 1940s segments out of the park, as he seems to fit in well with period pieces.

There's something dark about him, though, and I do wonder if that would have peeked through more than the jolly-good nature of Steve Rogers?

This isn't to knock Chris Evans in any way because I really think he managed to capture the shades of Steve Rogers without him ever coming across as dark or jaded, despite everything that happened to him and Bucky. Evans also turned in a performance that really portrayed Steve as very hopeful, patriotic, smart, steadfast, driven, confident and encouraging, which we don't get from other super heroes these days.

I know Gosling could have easily captured the darker parts of Rogers' story, but I don't know how well he would have been able to capture the lighthearted and hopeful elements of Captain America?
