Will this movie make Jon Hamm a bona fide movie star?

I realize he has had some good movie roles since "Mad Men" started, but he has been primarily a supporting actor. He was funny in "Bridesmaids" and appropriately dramatic in "The Town", but he was not really the lead in those flicks. "Mad Men" has only one year left and it is time for Jon to posture himself for the post-MM era. It will be interesting to see if this movie does that.

Hamm just doesn't have that universal charisma that would translate to a wide, movie audience.

Nothing against the guy, he is just sort of there. He works hard, tries hard and has some chops, but he lacks some "it" factor that can't be taught.

He was good as a cop in The Town and my guess is he would be good in similar supporting parts, or playing some rugged, dark characters, but he obviously has ambitions being a leading man which just won't happen.

Million Dollar Arm was a very nice movie, but how better would it be with Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal, Chris Pine, or even Mark Wahlberg?

Hamm just doesn't have that extra thing to make him a bona fide leading man.
