Seriously this woman ruins every movie she is in. Yes, this film had terrible unnaturally fast paced dialogue unrepresentative of real life, but that's only partly to blame.
I don't think that she's a terrible actress - the script was obvously HORRIBLE, like its author couldn't decide wether his main characters should be 16 or 25. Don't blame her for acting the way it was in the script, blame the writer.
AAAAANYWAY, look at the time, I must go continue my mental breakdown away from the internet now.
Wow, I love Emma Roberts. First off, she's beautiful. So, I'm guessing that's how she keeps getting jobs. Second, she's a good actress! Great? No, not yet. She's young still. But definitely not horrible.
I think the biggest problem I had with her character was that I didn't believe her. I didn't feel anything between her and George, and especially not between her at the Michael Angarano's character. Her character seemed very forced as if she wasn't exactly sure how to act in certain scenes. The parts where she was supposed to be sexy or sensual seemed like a 13 year old playing an awkward game. There were no moments I felt sorry for her or even happy for her. What conclusions were we supposed to make about her character? That she was also an attention seeking hormone induced teenager that fell in love but was too stupid to admit it?! Ok, so maybe a lot of that had to to do with a bad script, but regardless of the bad script, I liked George A LOT. I think Robert's acting was just weak which didn't help with the weak character development. Emma is not who I would have casted as this character. I would have chosen someone more mature, someone that could genuinely fascinate any 18 year old boy just by her natural charisma. Hayden Panettiere is a great example of an actress that commands attention for all the right reasons- her talent and natural beauty, imo. All the batting of Emma's eyelashes distracted me as well as her forced fake laughs that were supposed to be flirtacious throughout the film. There was very little chemistry if any between her and the George character. I think this hurt the film a lot.
I thought she was pretty good in It's Kind of a Funny Story, I didn't even know who it was when I saw it but thinking back I wasn't disappointed at all. Maybe because I didn't have any preconceived notions about her as an actress. In this movie though, I think she might have been a victim to a poor script and directing. There were so many things wrong this movie she was hardly to blame.
Yeah I hate her. She doesn't know how to handle dialog. She was terrible in Scream 4. Awful. And her age is no excuse. I've seen her in a few things and she hasn't improved. She lacks raw talent. I don't understand how people can think she is good when in my eyes she is so blatantly bad.
I agree. Although I watch most of her films. lol. But I feel that she, as an actress, has a real disconnect with the words she's saying. It's like she's reciting them, but there's no soul behind them. But her movies are cute. She brings nothing to the table. Like, they could have replaced her with any other actress and they could have done what she did. But if you put a skilled actress, then maybe the dynamic would be interesting.
I hope you like feminist rants because that's kind of my thing.
