Why would they make a sequel?????

I didn't think this film made any money in North America. Did it make money abroad? I find that hard to believe. When I saw it on television I don't think I laughed once and I loved a lot of Rowan Atkinson's past work, but I wasn't a fan of Mr. Bean as a spy.

Making a lot of coin doesn't mean a movie is good.
Some movies are terrible but for some reason people plunk down the coin to see them including Johnny English. The first one was terribly unfunny but some people out there like trash so hence a sequel

nemkes didn't say the original was any good - he/she was merely pointing out that it performed well for its budget, contrary to the implications of the OP.

I put writing my 'To-do' list near the bottom.

reply

Well this is a good movie, certainly better than the original.

reply

a) It's not Mr Bean
b) It made more money abroad, obviously. North America isn't the "be all" and "end all" of movies.

I never said it did brilliantly, I meant it in the way that North America's takings didn't matter because it already made a tonne of profit over its budget.

The original was huge in the U.K (can't speak for the rest of the world). Personally, I only remember laughing once (the scene where he parachutes onto the hospital by mistake).

The Barclay Card adverts were a lot funnier!

"You average, typical, blocking the view of a God-damn, average, victim Bastard!"

reply

Why? Because the first one was a hilarious film! Definitely one of the better comedy movies I've seen. And I've seen them all.. well maybe not all, but a boat load! I can only hope this one will be on par with the original.

I also think that one must fundamentally lack a sense of humor, if able to keep a straight face watching it. In fact, I would suggest a good therapist, since, obviously, something is seriously wrong with a person like that.
I mean, who knows, one might have gone totally daft and not even being aware of it.

No, you're not wrong, you're just an a$$hole!

the first one is ok and has it's moments of fun. i guess they are cashing in on the void created by the absence of an official bond film this year due to the financial problems mgm is having.

reply

Because people loved Johnny English it was British comedy gold, of course it was going to do worse in the U.S every Brit Comedy does even the spectacular ones like Shaun of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. Very few Americans get our sense of humour, hell I don't think every British person gets our sense of humour.

The original poster is clearly a massive c*unt. Why shouldn't they make a sequel? The first one was a harmless, silly, fun little story that was enjoyed for what it was, by many.

If you don't like the original, don't see the sequel. Is your life really worse off with a JE sequel film?

reply

NOOOOO< it was crap.
