No Chemistry Between Rachel McAdams and Owen Wilson

I've only just started watching this movie and is it just me or is there ZERO chemistry between these two actors? I think she had better chemistry with the guy in the movie Red Eye!

reply

They're meant to hate each other. Also pretty much every modern American character in the movie except Gil was shown to be pretty nondescript, so that makes sense.

reply

That is the point... for them not to have chemistry that is. Otherwise, it wouldn't make much sense.

reply

That is the point! Watch the entire movie and you will:
A. See that you are right, NO...THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY CHEMISTRY!
B. Be extremely happy that you watched this marvelous film.

reply

I'm confused as to whether the OP is referring to acting chemistry or romantic chemistry.

reply

Doesn't really matter as either way he is dead wrong. They weren't supposed to have romantic chemistry in this film and the fact that they pulled it off so successfully means they have very good acting chemistry. Besides, anyone who has seen Wedding Crashers knows that they have plenty of acting chemistry, and even romantic chemistry when the film calls for it.

Still Shooting With Film!

I know you posted this on February, and I don't want to check if someone said it before...

But why the *beep* would someone start watching a movie, then stop just to write a stupid comment on IMDb before even finishing it?

reply

Well, they are supposed to be drifting apart so why on Earth would they have any chemistry?

The film is not about their non-existent love for each other but about their own individual passions.

In that the actors played the parts perfectly.

And why are you discussing the film whilst seeing it?

Why not wait until the end, kid? And do a little something about your concentration skills too.

reply

I agree.
While watching them together, I wondered how their relationship even went as far as the 2 of them getting engaged.
Plus, the 2 actors just did not go together well at all.
Poor casting (??)

reply

Because the plot needed them not have chemistry. They were different people that probably got together because they felt the hots but not love, and I think McAdams characters wanted to be the wife of a hollywood script writer and Wilson's character just wanted a pretty girl, but they had no common interests.

reply

To say there was no chemistry between these two actors is blatantly untrue.
Anyone who's watched the whole movie would know they both liked pitta bread (and possibly other Indian food too!),which has been the staple of many a long lasting relationship.
The real reason she's a bit peeved is that since ditching Bradley Cooper for Owen Wilson at the altar, she realises what a mistake she made...Bradley's moved on to "Silver Linings" and "American Sniper", while Owen has "The Internship"....oh dear!

Not enough reason for people to get together. Anyone who has been in a relationship knows it.

I don't care about actors private life as long it didn't affect their acting, if they are professional it would happened.

I've just started watching and I don't see any chemistry anywhere - not even interest among the actors. Why is it that anyone even encourages Woody Allen to put on his filmmaking shoes and do this stuff?

Everything has sounded like a cliche. The audience is on the edge of their seats, wondering who will next appear on the screen 'pretending to be someone else.' That kind of definition of acting and theater.

Ugh. This was free on amazon prime video so I started watching it. I think I'm going to turn the thing off. It's that unpleasant to watch. And I love the city of Paris - I thought anything would be good to watch just with the Paris location! Jeez, that is bad.

reply

You know what else is a cliche? People saying they don't like (or understand) a movie they don't pay attention to or finish. How do u not like this movie, it's awesome.
