I watched this movie expecting

I watched this movie expecting to see the decline of Joe Carbahan and another dumb. Liam Neeson movie but found something well directed, well written and had good writing in it to boot.

I heard that this was a lame Neeson movie that was made to capitalize on his Taken fame, and that may be why he was was cast, but the movie holds up and is an awesome survival thriller that will hold up longer.

In five years people will dismiss taken but appreciate the Grey

Taken is still really popular 8 years later. The Grey, not at all. I loved both movies though, but they were both very different. I also didn't expect to see a movie that was so depressing and visceral. I thought it would be more like Piranha or something but maybe a couple of notches higher in quality haha.

I liked it a lot too.

This has become one my my favorite survival movies, even though the actual "surviving" is left ambiguous at the movies end...its a pretty low chance he survives but still possible I reckon

This movie is beautiful, and frightening, you can just *feel* how cold it is! The part where he attempts to chase off the wolf eating a body from the plane wreckage and then the wolf fights him back really sets you straight as an audience member. Those wolves are nothing like the pets you have at home!

Even the opening shots of the movie panning over the forested mountainside, cold sky looming, was the perfect entrance to this film! Sets the mood effectively.

Taken is great and all, just watched it last week and still loved it, but this movie is downright beautiful!

If you like this movie, you oughta see this short clip! https://youtu.be/_IRe6FZL688
