Anyone else dislike McGarrett?

I actually hate McGarrett. He shows off far too much and I hate how he can do everything that the criminal can do. For example, an episode where parkour was involved- you have to train to be able to do that and it takes years of practise and dedication, but noooo, not if you're McGarrett- he's just a pro at everything, for some reason.
It's so unrealistic, just because he was a Navy Seal doesn't mean he's a king at everything. Have you noticed how he never slips up? Not believable at all, humans make mistakes, but not McGarrett.

Let someone else take the lead role already, this guy is a clown.

Very true as the seven years going without renewing a driver's license. Will give him credit over not endangering the public. As really he thinks he is something else. Just think just because he is a SEAL and strong he could do it all.

To me Steve kind of reminds me of a spoiled brat. No matter what, he gets his way. Leader or not and thinks he can play God in Danny's life.
And how that just because he is a Commander and a SEAL thinks he is stronger and better than thou. And he is like he whines, screams, cries until people break down and finally give him what he wants.
I guess that is kind of the reason in a sense, Catherine dumped him being very domineering. As I would dump him too as he makes others pay for his meal, he is controlling and overbearing.
People find it funny but I do not. I have had a love-hate relationship with Steve since the end of season 3.
And hate it when people think Danny is annoying. But Danny is a caring man. And is not as selfish as his partner and boss is.

Whines, screams and cries? I've seen every episode and this is not ringing a bell with me. Examples please.

He just does not want to take no for an answer. And why Danny does not say no to driving his car. Is beyond me. As Danny needs to grow a backbone! And tell his boss and partner no.

Have to agree about the car driving. In the earlier seasons, Danny drove and Steve never complained about car sickness.

reply

I think it's just Danny. I saw an old episode a few months ago when they were showing him in New Jersey with his partner Grace. He asked her why she always had to drive. Although he moans and groans I think it's more of the fact that Steve just always has to have his way like a little kid.

reply

Did she say she likes to drive or just she has control issues like his boss and partner?

If i remember properly that "parkour" episode: McGarrett slips up/had a hard fall and had blood on his chest.

He wasn't just a Navy Seal. But I believe he was Navy Seal Team Commander at one point. Have you ever met a Navy Seal Team Commander before? They are absolute bad asses.

Chin is the only character I really like on this show. McGarrett is a poorly groomed thug with a badge. I really don't like Grover after his crime spree in Chicago. Danno like McGarrett is also a slob, a pure dumbass when it comes to guns, and his overall attitude sucks. Kono is not too bad, but she is given unrealistic fighting skills.

I just watch it for the A-Team gunfights. 

I don't mind McGarrett but I much prefer Danno.

And now the abuse begins!! One person in this thread does nothing else but complain on Facebook, and everywhere else, about how her precious Danno, is abused by McGarrett all the time. Danno is a hundred times more annoying, IMO.
McGarrett is the team leader, and is supposed to be able to do everything. He isn't Superhuman, but HF-0 has never been known for its realism.
If you don't like how a character is written, BLAME THE WRITERS !!!

My wife watches this show, therefore I sit through a few episodes. I watched the first one and thought "Oh hell no" when he was wearing his Navy dress whites but still sporting stubble on his face. He couldn't shave for one scene? These guys are portrayed as being wayyy too perfect. I'm used to Hollywood taking liberties with the way things are done, but I just think the show is ridiculous. They take themselves way too seriously and seem to be the only competent law enforcement anywhere they go. The storylines are just too contrived, as well, and the characters are all the best shots, toughest, etc, etc. They have to have the girl who weighs about 80 pounds able to beat up anybody, she's a sniper, etc. Just too over the top, imho.

Lol, it's how he's written. Just like all the other characters. He did need a kidney....so he's not all he-man.

reply

Not a kidney. He got part of Danny's liver to repair the damage to his liver done by a machine gun.
