Helen Hunt scarier than the shark

I dont condone the use of plastic surgery, but Helen's face is an emergency.

I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.

I have to agree. She's a great actress and I hate to be superficial but everytime they showed a closeup of her it made me cringe. I liked the movie but her face at times nearly ruined it.

reply

Doesn't seem like you hate to be superficial to me. You are just adding to a pathetic post. Do you expect people to not age?

People like you are what is wrong with American society. Judging others hiding behind your computer. Gross.

reply

Damn!!

reply

Aged - true, but a good actress nonetheless.

reply

I definitely noticed too, and it's weird because Helen isn't even that old--she's in her late 40's. But I agree that she's a great actress, and she played this part really well. At first, I didn't think it was the type of role she'd be good at, but she proved me wrong.

reply

She played a woman who spent most of her life in the sun, on the beach. They probably had to look long and hard for an actress who could play this part.

reply

We need to get her to the ER Stat!

"Well, I done seen just about everything, but I ain't never seen your boy, no way, no how!"

reply

I just watched Twister not too long ago and thought she was fine lookin'. I got half way through this movie before I even realized it was her. My goodness. What the F happened? Did they 'make' her look old to play the part or something? I know Twister was a long time ago but man alive, she has not aged well.

reply

You all sound so shallow. It's sad really. You all are what is wrong with the world.

I'm through excepting limits, cause someone says they're so.

reply

Hasn't anyone watch the documentary included as a special feature that shows the real mother? I'd say Helen Hunt was good casting for her.

Life, every now and then, behaves as though it had seen too many bad movies

I agree, and the same goes for Carrie Underwood; however, while there were good facial resemblances, in both cases the actresses were a lot skinnier than the real-life women they portrayed.

reply

she was perfect casting for the part, agree that she has not aged well, but it was perfect casting for someone who lives in the sun and water all the time, hot bod though !

reply

She may have been well cast. However, I was surprised at how much she has aged in a short time. I barely recognized her.

reply

Oh, yes, photogirl; we should never speak our minds and just lie and say she looks as hot as Scarlett Johansson. People speaking out loud is HARDLY what's wrong with the world. Try wars, starvation and disease. Now THOSE are what's wrong with the world. Dummy.

reply

Agreed. No wonder why so many woman have insecurities with this type of judgment. Very sad that we live in a world that it is wrong for woman (or men) to get old.

reply

God the woman was 48 years old when the film was made and she's playing the mother of 3 kids, two of whom looked pretty much adult. She looked the part of a surfing mum and was well cast. I can't believe some of the comments such as the idiot comparing her looks to Scarlett Johansson who's only 22 years younger.🐭

reply

Who cares? She is playing women who is I'n sun and water all day. She looks fine to me. What a bunch of shallow people. Hellen Hunt is great actress.

reply

I was also surprised about how old she looked - it wasn't good. But her natural aged look is 100x better than someone who does use plastic surgery, like Meg Ryan or Lauren Holly, who I've seen on screen recently.

reply

I agree with the last comment, sure, look after yourself with good diet and exercise but just age naturally.
Ban plastic surgery for everything other than correcting extreme disfigurements.
Helen Hunt looks fine to me - after all she's in her forties .....but still sexy.

reply

I'm glad that Helen Hunt hasn't gone the plastic surgery route, but it did surprise me that she looked a good bit older than the last time I saw her. My husband commented on this too. I think part of the reason may be that she is thinner than before--not that she was ever heavy at all, but it seems like her face was a little more filled out in the past.

reply

Let me just defend Helen Hunt by saying that the shark was not exactly all that scary anyway.

I basically saw the whole shark bite scene comming, with the Jaws style shark's eye view that preceded it, and the movie poster gives away what's going to happen. Unlike the Helen Hunt scenes, the shark scene was not all that graphic anyway. The shark just pops up like a puppet, practically says "HELLO!", and now poor little Bethany has no arm. The movie might as well have had Cookie Monster bite her arm off.

When they finally caught the shark I was waiting for the shark to cough up an arm but it didn't. I think the movie missed an opportunity there.

I grew up with Helen Hunt. Thought she looked pretty good myself.

I also agree that women in Hollywood would be much better off just letting themselves age naturally then using so much plastic surgery and ending up looking like circus freaks. Meg Ryan is a good example of a beautiful woman who would have likely aged well if she had not messed with her face.

HH looked odd in this film. As I already mentioned, I hardly recognized her at all. Why does she look so different? Did they make her up to look weather-beaten? I question whether she did something to her face that didn't turn out well, or yes, I suppose it could just be a combination of her advancing age and having lost a certain amount of weight, making her look gaunt. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone by speaking the truth, but she does look different and I did hardly recognize her. I last saw her in work she did in 2004/2005, which was I guess 6-7 years prior. Not that long ago.
