To me, the 2nd best of the franchise

The first four Furious movies were variable with the first being pretty good while the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th being okay. This film, however, is where the franchise found it's own voice by shaking things up by balancing the car racing with a spy espionage plot which I thought made it interesting. And the fights between Vin Diesel and The Rock... totally awesome.

I agree. First remains the best for me and this one is close second. The first one was a product of its time: early 2000s, strange fashions, music, Japanese cars with over the top (but still cool looking) modifications (Need for speed Underground and Underground 2 definitely caught the vibes of first 2 movies). Fast five is different, but in a good way.

Good for you. The reason why I thought the first one was pretty good is because while it didn't offer much in terms of character development, the characters themselves were likeable enough. If you're wondering which Fast movie that I consider to be the number one best, it'll have to be Furious 7 mostly because that it was a great tribute to the late Paul Walker who was taken by that car crash before it even got released. Not to mention it was pretty emotional especially in the last act where Letty tells Dom that she recovered her memories later on before the climax and that she was scared of losing him. We all know Dom didn't die, but that didn't stop me from crying for a moment.
