After the 2 episodes, what do you guys think?

I thought it was hilarious, and the effects were nicely done.

I also loved Kenny's new show.

After watching four episodes I gotta say that this show blows. Never laughed once so far, after looking forward to it for months now. They should have stayed in the park IMO.

Saw the first episode. Enjoyed it for what it was but like any creation, time will be the true judge. Never a good idea to make a final judgement on first viewing. The guys Were always going to be up against it making something new after TPB and the show like just about any other needs time to develop and mature. If it's not going anywhere after two or three seasons then it could or should be axed but till then, I hope it's network is patient.

I'm on episode 4 and I love it. I don't think the average viewer will get it though.

reply

Do you "get it"? Do you think they weren't just making it up as they went along?

reply

Who cares if they made it up as they went? It's still funny. When I said the average viewer won't get it, I mean it's not your average comedy and not everybody's cup of tea.

I "got it", I think it's funny. If you didn't, different strokes for different folks. No big deal.

So, in other words, if there is something beyond the surface slapstick humor, you don't get it, eh?

Of course. That's what I said after all.

This show is horrible.
I tried to get through the first episode but when the Fat Costumes come out i had to give up. Will probably have a look at some later episodes another time.
Mike Clattenburg obviously had a lot to do with the success of TPB and his absence from this show probably shows the true writing ability of the TPB trio who have released this disaster.

Okay, I just finished watching the entire six episodes for the second time (with about a year between my last viewing). I liked it well enough the first time, but the second time I'm more in love with it!
First, to the naysayers, it's certainly not "made up as they went along". Too many insane edits, plot twists, costume changes, etc. This was mapped out well in advance.
Second, the budget sure looks stretched to the max. The makeup works at times and is awful at other times. BUT, did anyone criticize SCTV for the makeup? Yes, this is a lot like Melonville on LSD. And maybe crack.
A friend of mine said "oh, they ripped off Boosh." I beg to differ. I think that Boosh might have been a slight influence, along with lots of other things, but the show has created it's own thing entirely.
The characters are, after two viewings now, absolutely classic. And it's really refreshing to see these guys actually pull them off! After so many years of TPB, I honestly didn't think they could do anything else. Bravo!
Yes, there are also weak spots throughout the series. This might have to do with budget and production time constraint more than anything. But, this thing moves so fast and through some very bizarre territory, that I really didn't mind those weak spots.
I think the things to keep in mind when watching this are that it's not in anyway whatsoever related to TPB. Get that out of your mind first. There are wayyyyy too many c0ck jokes. Way too many. It's funny a few times, but it drags. And, give it time to root in your brain... it really will grow and you will end up "getting it".
Finally, I think the subject matter killed this thing. Weird drugs, gay jokes, c0ck jokes, etc. It's just too damn weird. I also have this theory that Todd & The Book of Pure Evil was inspired by the humor in this show! Too bad Dr. Funtime died... not that they were going to get the green light for season two. Sigh.
Stick with it, great show!
