The best of the Disney live action remakes

Out of all the Disney live action remakes, this one is by far the best one. While the other remakes have been basic rehashes of the original films, this one takes an entirely new perspective. When this came out it looked like we were in for great stories with classic characters from the other's point of view, but it was not the case. The reason why this film is so good is the same reason the Cobra Kai series was so great.

Just imagine how these stories would have played out.

Cinderella: A single widower (who was formerly beautiful, but past her prime) struggles to raise a beautiful entitled stepdaughter in addition who her own daughters who lack beauty and grace.

The Lion King: Scar fights for the rights of minorities (The Hyenas), while his older brother upholds segregation.

Beauty and the Beast: Gaston falls in love with his childhood friend (Belle) only to slowly lose her to the Beast.

For me, the movie was nothing worth paying for. The script was not a clone, surely writing ought to aspire to more than that.

Just like your hypothetical scenarios, Maleficent had the potential to be good. This is the type of movie that only those in the audience who invest part of themselves too much into them, find said movies any good. No offence.

I have to agree. This movie was magical and haunting with an unique visual aesthetic direction that aged very well.
