How about Hope for America?

With all do respect to the people of Haiti.....

I don't live there. I live in America. I am tired of these "stars" jumping on every tragedy bandwangon they can find.

How about feeding Americans? Helping Americans? Adopting Americans?

How about helping the American homeless?

Sorry but the only difference between Haiti now and 3 weeks ago? Is the Earthquake...

They are poorest by choice. Why does one part of that Island thrive and Haiti does not? Why does the whole of the Islands thrive and Haiti does not?

Sorry...Not watching and not giving. I give to Americans. When us Americans are all well off maybe I will start looking else where.

I agree completely.

I will give to ANYONE(especially those less fortunate). It doesn't matter what nationality you are.

We have thousands of homeless people on the streets of Canada & the USA and all these celebrities are worried about is somebody elses problems. Fix what is wrong in your country first than maybe worry about the rest. I will watch a movie on the tube tonight not the telethon.

When Kim Bauer lost her virginity, Jack Bauer found it and put it back.

I'm in total agreement. These celebrities only come out to support the politically correct cause of the day, whatever it may be. We can use some help in the USA but I guess that's not p.c.

It's apparant people forgot about Katrina and that telethon.

I hate this type of ignorance...esp when we live a country where everyone's ancestors are from other countries...

yes we have thousands of people who are poor and hungry in this country but other countries have millions who are hungry everyday... they dont have soup kitchens they dont have shelters, they live on the streets. And all ya think about is yourselves....

No wonder every other country hates us.

Exactly ! It will NEVER be possible to totally eradicate poverty in the USA, yet until it's done, people DON'T want to give to other countries which (God forbids) suffer way more than you !! Oh well, all is good in selfish America.

A. Who says these people and others havent given money to homeless and other American causes?

B. Unlike Haiti, America has a wealth of resources to help its own: NPOs, government services, community organizations, etc.

C. When Hurricane Katrina hit, a very American tragedy, didnt they have the exact same fundraiser for that as well, with basically all the same stars basically involved with that? How about for September 11th as well?

D. People, if YOU want to help just Americans, no one is stopping you! There are hundreds of organizations you can call right now who will be happy to recieve any money you can give them. This isnt about America, Haiti, etc. Its about human beings and they, more than ever, need help from every great country on this planet like America that can help them. Its one of the few times I'm truly honored to be an American when I see fellow Americans rally to the world like this.

Over 37,000 homeless individuals (including 16,000 children) stay in shelters in New York every night

37 million men, women, and children who can’t put food on the table or meet the basic needs of their families

About 3.5 million including 1.35 million children

reply

and nearly 1 million people are homeless, without food, have no shelters, amnd wont have basic needs at all.

those 37 million had at least a place, a charity, and something to get help. These people do not.

They don't have a stable government, the city that was hit the hardest as their captial and if the world doesnt help them they would die...

The fact still reminds we have charities and people here in this country that help out everyday for the homeless and poor in this country. But other countries dont have that and depend on us to help. And we should. Because u havent realize we are in a country where many cultures live and when one country is affected, so are we.

You're all f#cking pathetic. We all live on EARTH, not America. We—as in human beings—are alone on this planet, in this desolate universe. We only have each other. Don't let your pathetic nationalism get in the way of helping people in other countries, for Christ sake.

Such selfishness.

Look outside the box and be realistic enough to realize that there is more to the universe than just the USA. Of course there are people here who need help and likewise in other parts of the world.

As for being poor by choice? Rubbish. That is the most foolish thing I have read in a long time. They are not poor by choice. It is called poverty, and no one asks or wishes for that. It robs good, smart, kind people of being able to have the proper life they deserve. The poverty they endure prohibits them from having proper shelter, food, water, education and work. Every luxury that I as a person have had since the day I was born, many of those people have not had enough of from the day they were born. It's an injustice, a cruelty and a hardship beyond our understanding.

So if you, OP, cannot spare any compassion for them, you ought to be grateful then for at least what you are blessed with. These celebrities are imperfect, but at least they do care to some degree, unlike you who has basically said we should ignore this crisis in Haiti as those people do not matter like us Americans matter. Honestly? I feel sorry for you if you really mean that. Please reread what you said and evaluate it carefully.

I could have held you in my arms forever, and it still wouldn't have been long enough.

What a wonderfully closed view of the world you have.

Poorest by choice? ?

These people are in the direst need of help. Have a heart.
