Do you Americans actually know ANYTHING about other countries?

http://i.imgur.com/ySBzvHQ.jpg

It's ridiculous how we're in 2013 and this still happens in American movies. England is not the United Kingdom, it's a part of it. The United Kingdom is made up of smaller "states" like the United States. Surely it's not that difficult to understand guys. It would be like a British (or any other movie from another nation) referring to the entire United States as Ohio, or Florida.

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland = United Kingdom

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland =/= England

Do they not teach geography or politics in American High Schools?

Don't you hate it when a signature looks like part of the post?

Surely it's not that difficult to understand that when someone says "England" that the context determines if they're talking about the England that's a portion of the island of Britain, or they're using a short cut for the United Kingdom as a whole.

Am I right in assuming that you are berating all people from the Americas?
Because I do know if you would've meant people from the United States from America your question and following rant would not make much sense.
Of course I was able to understand what you mean and I was also pretty sure that you know the difference and lastly I also know it's a common "mistake" made by many because it has kind of become a habit.
Similar with the issue you have described when it comes to England and Great Britain or even the UK.

So if you could in the future give other people the same courtesy or at least ensure you are not writing nonsense when feeling superior since it just makes you look a bit silly.

Because you guys don't make mistakes about America all the time? Also, of all the problems with this movie THAT's the one you're going to get annoyed about?

I'm from California we stand on our own one foot with a governor who was originally from Austria. We are the World's 7th largest economy and the 2nd biggest melting pot (look that up in Wiki), we even have our own suitcase with "the Button" in case anybody tries to take us down. We are our own nation, we aren't part of America ( as originally thought, that's just a myth), and we really don't give a flying two cents about the rights and wrongs of people in Europe, Asia or America (Africa and Canada maybe). So do you want to know what the real problem is with this movie (beside the argument going on in this thread) A blind, African American sensei who trained Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow AND Jinx and who used to front a band called Wu Tang Clan. Need I say more?

*beep* you're not your own nation. The US is a Federal Republic, therefore you're in terms of nations, part of the USA. In terms of economic power, California only vaguely means something due to wine and Hollywood and contributed to this World only artificially blown up prices, plastic and cosmetic surgery and movies.

reply

yes *beep* we do. must be nice to be british and think you know every *beep* thing

reply

I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were British and thus was born without a sense of humor. I was making a joke about California being it's own nation. But like the weather in your country, you didn't get it. lol

As an American who lives in the UK, I can say that in my experience, the British are no more knowledgeable about the US than Americans are about Britain. They only think they are because the majority of the movies they watch are made by Americans and take place in America. This somehow makes some people here (not all, of course) think they are an expert on all things United States.

I find it a little odd that your scripture stick has dried blood on it.

yeah, all americans have editing duties over all movies released by USA movie companies ... this is what all americans do after work ... they get a huge pile of scripts delivered to their homes and they sit there all night going through all of them making sure every little fact is correct ... this one must have just slipped through the 300 million+ editors ... we apologize deeply since apparently it really rattled the little cage in your tiny brain ...

(frankly, who gives a f*&% about that sorry-ass, tenth-rate island country anyway? you guys ain't ruled the world in centuries and you need the USA to try and lay down any kind of smack on any other country, no matter how weak they are ... you're all a bunch of weiners in need of a serious dental plan)

take care,
