Some good but mostly lacking

Perhaps I've been spoiled by Christmas classics but their song was instantly forgettable. Even worse, the earlier parts of the movie showing them messing around with the song sounded like elementary schoolers in terms of singing and piano playing. Yet they were going gaga over it.

It made no sense that an amateur musician could play a skeletal version of a song at home but with no practice could walk on to a stage and suddenly play a fully orchestrated version with no rehearsal.

Ironically, the interstitial music was well performed. For example, "O Come All Ye Faithful" around minute 57 had superb jazz chord substitutions. Gorgeous!

Both stars are good actors but the plot was lacking any suspense and couldn't keep my interest. There were a few nice scenes and Aimee Garcia dances well so I enjoyed that. But overall, it didn't even measure up to an average Lifetime movie which was sad because, given the actors and sets, they obvious spent a lot more producing this movie.
