Watched first episode very excited to see and was let down. It was very hard to follow, could barely understand the dialogue, and was bored as well. The only thing that somewhat interested me was the realtionship of the gamblers. I figured a lot of shows start out slow but watched the 2nd episode and it was just as boring. HBO usually puts on top notch programming but this one comes up short.
Keep in mind you have called this show the "worst HBO show ever" -- that means worse than Bored to Death, How to Make It in America, Extras, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Summer Heights High, Epitafios, Mr. Show, Rome, The Bad Boys of Comedy, not to mention Curb Your Enthusiasm, Eastbound and Down, Da Ali G Show.
I like some of these, and not some others, but not one of them is in the class of Luck.
So, next time you want to complain about the tone of response your hyperbole attracts, try thinking before you start speaking in indefensible superlatives.
Seriously, I was agreeing with everything you said, Johndeckbose, until you said that Rome doesn't reach the level luck. If anything Luck reaches the level of Rome. The First season of Rome is one of the most well written, directed, and acted pieces of cinema, as well as being perfectly structured, paced, and executed. Other than in the wire, I don't think I've seen such a well crafted execution of a season.
And I absolutely love luck by the way. Every god damn episode leaves me with a lingering high by the end of it.
Rome and Epitafios were excellent- I understand your point but there's some excellent shows there- and comparing half hour comedies- let alone excellent ones like Curb and Eastbound- to a one hour drama is a little ridiculous.
not the worst...there have been some stinkers. but also it must be said it aint all that, so far i'm disappointed....it's been slow to develope and isnt living up to all the hype its been given....i'm keeping my fingas crossed and will give the first season a chance.
Well episode 4 is were it starts to pickup. I'm not saying because i like it, you should, but like a lot of people I soooo nearly gave up after the 1st episode, but after 5 episodes this is one of my favorite shows on at the moment.
But definitely not for everyone. Does require some effort.
Try episode 4, even just for the scene with Dustin Hoffman and Michael Gambon. Pure Star Wattage !!
Actually, episode 4 is even worse than those that preceded it and is just as pointless. I recognize that you want to really like the show and all, but the unmistakeable reality is that Luck is lame.
I notice there are always a lot of posters who take part in these "we're really smart and this is a masterpiece if you don't like this go watch Transformers" but very few of them actually ever post anything in any threads about the show each week.
I would think one post would suffice to express dissappointment with a show. Hanging around like a parasite simply insinuates bias. It is completely within your rights, just as the condemning of such behavior is within our rights.
It starts to get obnoxious when a poster seems under the impression it bears reiteration. We heard you the first time, we just don't care that much. If you suffer some sort of compulsion to keep posting here, at least put forth some new thoughts and not the same, tired bleating.
You're the funniest thing I seen since Biter chewed off that Septa's teats - Rorge
I am a long time fan of HBO's programs, but I have to agree that this show doesn't do anything for me. The dialogue seems way to pretentious for it's own good and it is so cryptic that the show seems to lack any feeling behind it. It is certainly not the worst show (Tell Me You Love Me, John From Cincinnati, Lucky Louie), but this will never be up with HBO's best.
