Maybe somehow she and Albert could have gotten together. It would have been a great ending to the film (and she'd be 4 years older than when we last see her).

Not sure if it is too late, but you created a spoiler in the title of this thread for people trying to decide whether to watch the movie. You should really see if you can retitle it to not provide that information.
Once you see that title there is no way of not recalling she will die.
It's the fact that it's so easy not to spoil that's annoying. But many people just don't have the imagination or consideration to work it out.
I like to check out thread titles at least, it's a good way to get a rough idea on a movie's quality, and can often reveal that a movie's not what you thought it was going to be.
...then whoa, differences...
Anyone coming to a movie site, then to the actual movie's page, then to the forums of said movie, prior to watching that movie, is more of an idiot than the person who doesn't write "Spoilers" in the header.
