I just read the plot summary of this on Wikipedia.

Within the last ten years or so, a lot of mainstream movies have popped up where I look at the plot and think to myself "What kind of f__ked up, dysfunctional society would result in a movie like that?" This movie is near the top of the list. There have always been some weird, out-there movies on the Cult fringe, but only in the last decade or so have we gotten twisted enough as a society that these are getting mainstream releases.

Edit: I just watched the trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hQpV9Q0A7E

SPOILER ALERT:

The guys kills women and has reciprocal light-hearted, comedic conversations with their severed heads that he keeps in the fridge. This movie is definitely a symptom of some greater depravity or sickness in the public mentality. It's like someone made a sitcom about Ted Bundy.

It's certainly not the darkest thing I have ever seen, either by far. And that's the main element that is so disturbing about it. If it was a grim horror film or a disturbing psycho-drama that would be different, but in this thing, serial murder ala Ted Bundy is given a sit-com treatment with a hapless, lovable murdering 'hero' and his cute talking pets.

It seems very sick and depraved to treat the serial murder and mutilation of women as a subject for laughs. I don't think a healthy society would accept this kind of entertainment.
