'City of Angels' Satara Stratton

Does anyone think this is a hoax? I'm only half-way through, but I was reading articles of the case and most of the comments don't believe this actually happened. They feel it was largely to boost this girls movie career by getting her media exposure, and also that she's a drug user (translate: liar).

I did find it strange only the mother is interviewed, but not the father and he was the one who drove down to get her out of jail and gave her money to get an apartment. I get the feeling the father didn't want to a part of this hoax so he bailed out.
