Ultimately, the US Generals decided to withdraw from the valley after wasting 50 US boys for nothing. Reminds me of Hamburger Hill, or for that matter the entire Viet Nam War. 58,000 lives sacrificed for what"? 50 sacrificed for this *beep* in the mountains of a third-world dump and 58,000 for a *beep* in the jungle.

The whole war has become like the Korean war in that it has mostly been forgotten. I hope we build a proper memorial for the men and women who served in Operation Enduring Freedom from the beginning up until now. The men in this have my respect.
