Thoughts aboot the 3rd act (Spoilers)

When our Rhoda is able to enter the professor's house via the window, can any of you recognize, and HEAR a gun being 'cocked' (I mean the hammer being pulled...) back?

I do believe the professor, went the way of Rhoda's co-worker... An attempt to blind, or shield the pain around one's self by self-inflected harm to halt or minimize internal pain. Imo, the professor did indeed kill himself that night. He literally took a ticket to another plain of existence.

Rhoda, on the other hand, accepted her co-worker's guidance, by finding inner peace... then finding her 'stronger' self - where possibilities are open- during the final scene.

Another interpretation I have is that the professor did shot and killed Rhoda when she entered the house, AND he then killed himself... in the final sequence, we only see Rhoda - that's it. Rhoda walks, and walks. No cars, zero people anywhere. Yet, her mind, her consciousness is at peace; hence. she's ultimately able to find her 'better' self (in the ending scene)... It's kind of a hard sell, but should be thought about.

**All the above, given that Earth 2 is not literal, but a symbolic representation of Rhoda's frame of mind.

Side note: I love this film, watched it back in 2011. Brit Marling's work is pretty darn good.
