Why did their son,,,,,(SPOILERS)
Why did their son go on the killing spree?....Is it explained in the movie?
Was it due to his parents marital problems? Or was their more to it than that? What sort of person did their son seem to be?
I found the lack of psychological insight to be frustrating. He was at the age where schizophrenia begins to manifest itself. He might have left disjointed writings or sketches showing a disordered mind. He could have had a brain tumor. Just being upset with his parents or disappointed in his fellow students is not enough to explain the killing spree.
Also, his ability to get and use a gun is not explained. His parents were obviously not part of a gun culture. How did he become familiar with using a gun powerful enough to kill all those people?
Then, when his parents were trying to cope, they never sought any counseling. All this added up to a big disconnect for me. It seemed very improbable, therefore I was not really able to focus on the parents path to recovery.
