Just watched the last Episode of Season 2.

I have to say this show for some reason was pretty good. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 ... with 5 being average.

Even though I was kind of annoyed at the inclusion of so much gayness and gay scenes in the movie, they are critical to the plot, and the story and characters were pretty believable. The plot and the writing were well done and very tight.

I'd recommend it.

Yeah, 5 episodes into season 1. I'm enjoying it.

It's got a "Mare of Easttown" vibe to it.

There is some gayness involved, but not as bothersome as say "Six Feet Under".

So far, it seems like a good detective story.

Not a Jeff Daniels fan, but he seems ok in his role as the Chief.

Maura Tierney is doing a nice job.

So far, 5 episodes in, it's better than I thought it would be.

Cool

Did you see Season 1? Or only Season 2?

reply

Not much point in watching 2 if you didn't see 1 is there?

There is a 3 year gap between seasons. Plus a different network was involved in Season 1. It is possible, since Season 2 just came out - someone could have started at that point - just to check it out.

I'm curious - which season did you enjoy more?

I always have a hard time answering these kind of which is better questions. If I appreciate something, I appreciate it, and why bother unless there is a serious flaw or difference in trying to rank them. Anyway, there is not much difference to me.

One thing comes to mind in S2 is the murder of what's his name's offender in prison. Not sure I can really process that at this point. It seems to give license to murder someone in the hope that it will free your mind from the abuse suffered. Well, that is different from the turn the other cheek morality and attitude usually preached on TV shows, and then the last S2 scene where the guy goes out and hunts down the one remaining corrupt cop who shows up outside the cabin.

What do you think about that?

Gotcha, sounds good.

No, you can't murder anyone. You have to hope justice takes it's course. I suppose it is turning the other cheek in a sense. You'll hate the person and want to kill them, unfortunately it isn't up to you. If you take matters into your own hands - you'll be in a mess. First thought that comes to mind is Jack Ruby. Aside from ruining history by killing Oswald - he initially was looking at the death penalty. This was reduced to life, which he was in the process of appealing. He died while imprisoned.

I can't speak of the last scene in S2 cuz I'm not there yet. I can speak of the murder in S1. From what I can tell (5 episodes in) - an emotional reaction due to being in love with the individual in the fracas. The individual in the fracas was in a fight, no intention of killing anyone, just beating people up. The guy that loved him reacted out of emotion - and committed murder. OF course this is only a theory.

He (Isa...) would have served the situation best by simply standing there and doing nothing. It was obvious (Bil..) could take care of himself.

So anyway, a long winded way of saying turn the other cheek in the moment - then hope justice takes its course. Unfortunately sometimes it doesn't (OJ Simpson).

Not necessarily. Under certain trauma it is being portrayed as being worth the risk instead of living with this guy's face in your life for the rest of your life.

No, do not use Oswald as any kind of comparison, it totally does not fit.

Murder or an accident?

While in prison? Unless you have figured out how to get away with it - you'll have to face legal consequences. ANd even if you do get away with it - it'll tail you for the rest of your life. The best course of action is to hope justice takes it's course.

Yeah totally agreed, Ruby/Oswald was just the first real life example that came to my mind of someone not letting justice take its course. A movie similarity would be "LIttle Children". IN the case of LC, the Doctor actually had it planned out pretty well. Plus it was his son that was murdered. Justice was going to take it's course, but the Doctor couldn't wait for the process to conclude.

Murder or an accident?"

From what Ive seen, it looked like murder. It looked like Isa... reacted emotionally cuz of his love for Bil..

Of course Im only 5 episodes in, I could find out otherwise as I go on with the program

I love this show. Just finished the first season and season 2's first ep. There's way more charachters and you can sense the difference in production between the seasons as the show switched networks.

Oh, if only we could trust the police to go out at night to get rid of the really bad guys and save us all time, money, and victimhood. ;-)
