You can see how these women will never stop being incarcerated, and the system isn't going to fix them.

Sadly these idiots need some hardcore jail time to straighten them out and they aren't going to get it in a wimpy place like the one they are in. If you someone in jail that is stealing from other inmates you beat them within an inch of their life, if they don't follow the rules you beat them within an inch of their life... if they still don't start playing by the rules you repeat the process until they follow the rules or get removed in a body bag.

That's how jail or prison straighten out scum like this, but the way they are treating them they will never change because there is no reason for them too.

Good luck staying out of prison. You have a 2.5% chance of incarceration.

reply

Actually it's lower than that. The 2.5 also includes people that were jailed or imprisoned for things like DUI or traffic violations where they didn't have the money for the ticket so accept 10-30 days in jail. Removing those types from the percent drops it to about 2%. Then you have the double counted people because the way the stats are tracked a person that is in jail in a state prison and then a federal prison is counted as 2 different people instead of just as one. In fact if you had a person that was in prison in 3 different state prisons they would be counted 3 times because the statistics aren't tracked in a way to eliminate people incarcerated in multiple venues. If you clean up the number it would probably be closer to 1.5 to 1.75%.

Then you have to look at demographics and you find that some groups in the US are more likely to break laws and get imprisoned. I'm not really worried about being in a prison as much as I'm worried about being the victim of some lowlife fuck that will end up in prison. Hell I've already been robbed twice in my life who knows how many more times I'll get robbed... Though if they would just hang the cocksuckers that rob people they would eliminate a lot of crime as the last fucker that robbed me was caught. 2 years later I received the notice from the DA telling me the outcome of the case. Probation and this was a cocksucker that already had a criminal record for robbery. What are the odds someone like that is magically going to stop being a criminal when they had no punishment.

Well, we can't all be Norway.

reply

I think it's really down to what their crime was.

If it was murder, I would prefer that they hang, but if it's something minor like drug possession, then they need help.

reply

I agree if it's murder then eliminate them. But even for minor things they shouldn't be coddled. A prison where they are broken down to nothing is the first step. These guards are too soft. The moment an inmate fails to do what they are told they should be cracked upside the head. If they live through it they wont act up again. But verbally arguing with an inmate is not send the right message.

reply

To be fair it's not the guards that make the rules. They're just there to enforce them.

reply

I would imagine that goes against cruel and unusual punishment.

reply

Trouble is the courts continue to read that amendment as cruel or unusual... most punishments that they toss out were never cruel AND unusual. Remember the kicked out the death penalty in the past when it was never unusual it was real fucking common.

reply

I don't think it has to be both to qualify.

reply

Well if you are a literalist, it has to be. That is the problem, in the past the court got too damned many justices that wanted to ignore what was in the Constitution and replace it with what they wished was in the Constitution. Lots of shitty decisions have been made because of justices that ignore what is written, but the language is pretty clear it uses the word "and" not "or" and when you realize that time they spent drafting the Constitution and the number of revisions before they had one they could agree on then it was clear the meant "and".

reply

It was amusing how , despite the inmates speaking English , they used subtitles a lot of the time. Teaching these dirtbags to speak English would be a good first step in any rehabilitation.
