Could they not find a Jew in Hollywood to play Moses?
You wouldn't think it would be that hard to find one, but yet they didn't.
shareYou wouldn't think it would be that hard to find one, but yet they didn't.
sharewhy does it matter? they made a movie, not a documentary..
shareMore like a "mockumentary.." you call THIS garbage a "movie?"
"IMdB; where 14 year olds can act like jaded 40 year old critics...'
Having just sat through this tripe I have to agree with your sentiment. I found the film equally tedious, flat and in parts quite offensive. Why is it that film makers are afraid of insulting every religion except Christians? To portray God as a petulant bratty child was insulting.
I also question the decision to cast Christian Bale in the lead role. I kept expecting him to bark out 'I'm Moses' in a breathy voice. His acting, normally excellent, was below par for this movie.
To portray God as a petulant bratty child was insulting.
Yeah, that's pretty much what the Old Testament God was, the whole petulant brat thing. He becomes much wiser, less intrusive, and more respectful of his creation by the New Testament.
no offense.
The more atheists make comments like this, the more they show they barely know anything about religion.
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heave" so clearly, just worshiping doesn't cut it.
"The more atheists make comments like this, the more they show they barely know anything about religion."
And when you make comments like this, it shows us that the atheist has read your holy book but you haven't... Any representation of the Christian god which portrays him as a petulant child (or incompetent hillbilly with a temper) is more in line with the behaviour of the scriptural character than any 'wise old man' notion.
To portray God as a petulant bratty child was insulting. That wasn't God. That was an angel; "Malak" means angel.
I think they were insulting Jews not Christians. That alone makes it odd how Hollywood made it given the Jewish financial power in LA.
shareSo you are another of these people who think Jewish people are only good at making or financing movies. The World has moved on since the 1930s.
shareNo one said Jews are ONLY good at financing films, but 23 out of 25 Hollywood studios are headed by Jewish men. To deny they have a disproportionate hold on the film industry is to be blind. You can look these things up. Even famous actors admit Hollywood is run by Jews. It has been since the beginning, when Jewish immigrants basically created Hollywood. That's just how it is.
shareYes imagine if they depicted Koranic stories or even Hindu stories in a movie like this. Imagine if they had a child actor play Muhammad or Allah in a film.

"To portray God as a petulant bratty child was insulting"
The child did not represent god. Moses indicated such when he told him he was tired of speaking to the messenger. But religious people are always insulted no matter what.
"You've got lovely eyes Dee-Dee, never noticed them before, are they real?"
Hey idiot... THIS IS NOT A CHRISTIAN MOVIE!!! Exodus is the most Jewish story ever told. Point me to a single Christian Character and I will shut up.. until then, you stop trying to claim the Jewish faith!!!
sharewow!¬
shareat least someone not Caucasian and without a speech impediment. cannot stand Christian Bale. terrible Batman as well
shareModern Jews look pretty Caucasian.
shareNot all of them. Many of them still have that Middle Eastern look they originally had.
Or was the character known as Jesus a blue-eyed blonde guy?
Yea because all white people are blonde and blue eyed right?
Please excuse any typos, this was typed on an iPad
"Yea".
But you forget that the word Caucasian includes people that would not be considered "white", like indians or many people from the middle east. Yes, they are caucasians, but that does not make them WHITE.
I wish people stop confusing "white" and "caucasian". Contrary to what most people believe, is not the same word.
"Caucasian" is a derivative of an outmoded, 18th-century theory of racial distinction. The three "races" were Caucasoid, Negroid, and Mongoloid. The reason that the Caucasus region was chosen by the theorist (Johann Friedrich Blumenbach) was that he felt the people from this region to be the "whitest," and pale skin was considered the most "beautiful."
The word is still around as a convenience term; sadly, even scientists use it because there's no better word. Most of the major science style manuals (AMA, APA), however, recommend avoiding it and just using "white."
So, indeed "white" and "Caucasian" are not the same word. Although at some point people from the Middle East and India (or are you referring to Native Americans?) may have been considered Caucasian, they are not today, and they certainly would not have been in Blumenbach's time.
How on earth do you know what look they originally had?
shareModern Jews look pretty Caucasian? Say that after you visit an Hasidic Jewish neighborhood. Anyway, I wasn't aware that Moses was a "modern Jew.."
"IMdB; where 14 year olds can act like jaded 40 year old critics...'
These are not modern but Ashkenazi.
Ich bin kein ausgeklügelt Buch, ich bin ein Mensch mit seinem Widerspruch.

Well the real Moses had a problem with his speech which is probably why his brother Aaron spoke when they appeared before Pharoah
sharein the bible it says that Moses had a speech problem so this was actually a win
shareNo. And they didn't find a Jew to play Moses instead of Charlton Heston, neither thei found a Jew to play Ben-Hur, neither they found an Italian to play Spartacus, neither they found and English to Play Robin Hood, neither they Found a Jew to play Jesus, neither they found... Should I go on?
I can't tolerate your sadness cause it's me you are drowning
Dude:
"Italian to play Spartacus?" Kirk Douglas was the child of Jewish Immigrants from Belarus.
..Joe
I think that was sorta his point, Joe. Spartacus was a Greek gladiator fighting against Rome. Not a Russian Jew. (nor an Italian)
"I have nipples, Greg. Could you milk me?"
Belarus? Where are you from? I'm european and Belarus is far northeast from Italy. Search a map.
I can't tolerate your sadness cause it's me you are drowning
No. And they didn't find a Jew to play Moses instead of Charlton Heston, neither thei found a Jew to play Ben-Hur, neither they found an Italian to play Spartacus, neither they found and English to Play Robin Hood, neither they Found a Jew to play Jesus, neither they found... Should I go on?No. Don't go on. You're speaking about movies of a different time period....when Hollywood was totally dominated by caucasian actors. This is the age of "sensitivity" and people would like more realism in a movie. share
Gladiator.
I can't tolerate your sadness cause it's me you are drowning
seeing as Ancient Egyptians and Jews where caucasian don't get your point. You do know the Middle East, North Africa, Arab's , Israel now are caucasian.
shareConsidering that "Caucasian" doesn't really mean anything, anybody can be Caucasian.
shareWhen the Nazis came up with their "Arian Master Race" idea the then Shah of Iran figured he should be on Hitler's side because Iranians are classed under one race theory as Aryan.
The allies invaded Iran before he could do anything about it.
That is EXACTLY his point; that decade after decade, Hollywood just can't seem to get it right. You would think by 2015 they would have stopped making the same mistakes over again..
"IMdB; where 14 year olds can act like jaded 40 year old critics...'
fallingsun..really?...it's a *beep* movie !!! and Bale did a good job..PERIOD!! Now yes no where near accurate. Ramesses II, is considered the greatest Egyptian king of all time. In fact he lived longer and conquered way more than the bible suggests. In fact archaeologists have proven it !!! FACT !! So being Christian and being baptized as such..today i question the validity of the bible .....
shareplease any body tell me what is hebrew song playing at moses and zipporah wedding in the movie "exodus gods and kings"?
shareAnd half the cast of Sapronos was Jewish, did it matter? Know. You couldn't even tell some caucasians are Jewish with their blonde hair blue eyes. My primary car doctor is Jewish and he has blonde hair and blue eyes.
shareWhy didn't Spielberg find a Jew to play the lead Jewish character in Schindler's List?
share
