The beginning has a very dumb scene...

So at the very beginning...Chalamet and his mom are hiding near the mountains when the bad guys start getting shot and are falling off the cliff. One of the alive bad guys glides down to the ground and sees Chalamet...a quick battle ensues. (If u haven't seen it...You'll never guess who wins!)

Before I get to the ridiculous part, I need to mention: the mom is seen on the ground near Chalamet at the beginning of the battle. The battle lasts about 10 seconds at most. Keep this in mind.

Ok...so after Chalamet is victorious in battle...there is another bad guy HIGH UP on the ridge who witnessed the tail end of the battle and readies his gun to shoot Chalamet. Of course, at the very last second, the mom hits the bad guy over the head with a huge rock and Chalamet is saved. But wait a minute...that guy could barely be seen he's so far away! Looks like a silhouette to the naked eye! So you're telling me that the mom 1) anticipated this guy at the very top of this ridge (but didn't anticipate the first bad guy who glided to the ground, nor mention to her son that a guy would be appearing at the top of the ridge after the battle)?!; And 2) was able to carry a huge-assed heavy rock up the ridge, all the while using Usain Bolt like speed, and arriving there in less than 10 seconds?!; And 3) had to outflank the bad guy in order to hit him from behind...all the while not being seen by him from the corner of his eye...so she must have had to run far behind him and then circled back, all in less time than that battle took?!?! While carrying a huge rock?! No way.

That is some serious sprint speed! Carl Lewis in the 80s would have been impressed! I rolled my eyes at that sequence. Why does Hollywood always write in the old "Saved from behind at the last second" routine?! Has this ever impressed a viewer? I've never seen this in real life, someone getting saved at the last possible moment before their enemy kills them...but it's happened hundreds of times in movies. It's kind of old/tired/stale. Like someone fainting when they see someone they don't expect to see or receive news they don't expect to hear. This has never happened before in real life. Yet we see it all the time on screen. (Not so much the past 10-20 years, they've sort of stopped using that, but still.)

Anyway...There's no way anybody, a pregnant lady much less, is scaling that huge sand hill and successfully outflanking their enemy in less time than it took that quick battle to happen! And where did she get the rock?! Did she lug it up the hill with her...or did she just get lucky that the rock just so happened to be near the bad guy?! That scene was so nonsensical.

I liked Dune Part 1 better because this whole part 2 was just one choreographed fight scene after another after another after another… Part 1 had mystery and a story that developed with intrigue and style. Part 2 was just about the visuals, and the story part was soooo choppy.
