Has anyone seen this film yet?

Has anyone seen this film yet? The trailer looks *beep* up and I have heard rumors that everything in the film is real? WTF?

reply

Haven´t seen it but it has been released here in sweden. And yes, Everything Is For Real.

Remember what I said; in 2 years time we´ll have real snuff movies for sale or on demand.

reply

Let us know when you've seen it, looking forward to checking this one out...

reply

I just watched it. It was one of the dullest movies I've ever seen. Complete pointless waste of time. Don't bother with it!

"Congratulations, you're going to go down in history as the man who killed Superman."

reply

Have seen it now and man was I dissapointed.

The story should give chills and knowing everything is real, no special effects or anything fake. It´s real. And what do they do? Overuse of fast clips/editing. It´s like a drugged hamster have cut this movie.

For example; Hog screams, new scene, Bunny cries and screams, new scene, Hog shaves the head of another girl, new scene, Hogs sniffs from a bag, new scenes, Hog slams his knife onto the floor in his truck, new scene.. all these scenes are 3-5 seconds..

I don´t get it. The editing ruined a movie that was so important to make that I got angry and Do NOT recomend it.

That should be the films synopsis.

Yes don't watch it, it'll be an hour and a half of your life wasted. It's a very 'artistic' film very slow and dull.... not much happens to be honest, there's not much of a storyline and practically no character development.

Yeah, I found it pretty arresting, I gotta say and better than I was expecting. 7/10

Dont watch unless you really want to. And if Pirates of the Caribbean is your favorite flick, definitely dont "waste your time".

THE BUNNY GAME (76 Minutes) is an intense piece of art - not for your average soul. Be careful.

What was your relationship like with hog? Was he scary in real life? He seems like an awesome guy and hearing how the director first met him makes me like him even more.

reply

Ha ha! HOG. Renfro, as I call him. He iS an AWEsome guy. Unique. No one like him in the world. I did not know Renfro until Adam and I were really pulling in the energy to do the hore film. It dawned on Adam one day when we were out shooting (photoshoot) - that he knew the perfect man for the part. Cause we had been scouring our brains to figure out who would play the role. Adam even considered playing the role himself at one point.

But on this one day, circa Summer 2008, we were in Burbank shooting on a traintrack, me, and later, street signs on a dead end road.... then Adam remembered Jeff. So he called him up, and we went there, to his house, that day, to Jeff Renfro's house.... The scene, not even filmed, but like a movie in my mind, meeting him, creepy, it was as if he could tune right into the role already, the role we werent even sure what it was, cause it was all improv. And, on that day, cause of the way I was dressed, in a see-thru slip and high high platform boots, Renfro himself already felt like he could play that creep role. Altho on that day - I wasnt ready for him to play, so it got me upset. Immediately - Adam and I knew Renfro was the perfect match, and that he would do what we wanted him to do, what the film wanted him to do, what ever that was. And it happened.

Today - if I see Renfro - which is a rare occasion, but a cherished one, - when I see Renfro, he is like family to me. I love him, and trust him, which is why we made the Bunny Game together. I also love his family, including his precious mother, Betty Jo.

Okay, now that I know it's real, how far does the content go? Did you get very serious damages or just a few scars? Isn't it by the way illegal to make a film this way?

reply

I watched this the other day with my partner and I have to say it was the biggest pile of garbage I have ever seen.
I'm really into the horror/extreme genre and I just felt like this could've been cut down to about 20/30 minutes instead of being a feature length film. I'd never watch it again.

Good. Please dont.

I watched this movie tonight. I have seen thousands of movies in my lifetime and the 2 worst movies EVER made both had "Bunny" in the title. "Brown Bunny" and "The Bunny Game." I am not a fan of censorship, however I agree with UK banning it. This movie is horribly filmed.... whoever was holding the camera must have had the shakes. The sound is terrible and incoherent. There is no plot.... no story and no social value at all.... well, perhaps in some film school it could be used as an example of what NOT to do to make a film. I do not have any idea how any money could have been raised to produce it. Maybe that's why it had no quality in any department. I am seriously thinking about shredding this disc...... JimB

reply

JimB - I advise you to shred it.

reply

I did!

reply

I have to say, it really makes me feel good about a film when the lead actress has to defend it on IMDb. Very affirming stuff.

reply

defend it? ... maybe she changed her tune. she told that one guy to shred his version of it....

reply

i saw it last night. i liked it quite a bit. yes, all the abuse is real.
it's more about being a work of art than a film....

reply

I just watched it. Bored the life out of me, and I'm not a huge horror fan. I watch anything really.

Someone above said: don't watch this if your a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates of the Caribbean was scarier that's for sure! lol

reply

This was basically porn disguising itself as an art film by cutting to shots of the guy "going insane".

Stuff like this reminds me of "Movie Poop Shoot.com" from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

! SPOILERS !

I saw the film and I think the people who hate do not understand it.

Pros:
- The acting is incredible because all of the torture is real. Sure, it was in a controlled space, but Rodleen Getsic did an amazing job by agreeing to do this.
- The storytelling is well done because it shows what Hog's victims go through. Bunny was not the first and she won't be the last. The sadistic way Hog shows her a video of a previous victim lets Bunny know her fate. The fact that she is watching it as torture and YOU the viewer is watching this movie for entertainment gives the entire film a unique element. Like Salo or 120 Days of Sodom or A Serbian Film, The Bunny Game is making a statement on people who watch torture and violence
- Bunny is being sold into sexual slavery. Hog and Bunny do not have sex. She is not raped by him. Although the torture is somewhat sexual in nature, there is no actual sex between Bunny and Hog. This adds to the NON-sexual aspect of sex slavery. I thought that was interested.
- Realistic and gritty. Unfortunately, I have known some women who had to live on the streets and become prostitutes. It is horribly dangerous and drug addicted prostitutes encounter incredibly dangerous people. This movie captures that in a realistic way.

Cons:
- Too many long, drawn out shots. There are some shots where Hog is just standing there thinking. Although it is meant to show passing of time and waiting (as a form of torturing Bunny), the viewer does not need to actually see the waiting.
- For such a short film, it does drag in parts.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
The Bunny Game is a solid film for people who are interested in extreme art films that deal with violence, torture or sadism. Fans of "Salo or 120 Days of Sodom", "Cannibal Holocaust", and "A Serbian Film" should be able to appreciate what "The Bunny Game" is trying to accomplish. Most people write it off as torture porn, but it is not. Sex slavery, drug addiction, and prostitution exists. It's not pretty. Many times the victims either die or endure more and more torture. Many times, the torturers do not get punished. The Bunny Game has a dark and hopeless ending. The woman (who is cast out of normal society because of prostitution and drug addiction) is tortured and prepped for sex slavery. In the end, Hog breaks her and puts her in a trunk of someone who "buys" her. The ending is quite fitting and should remind the viewer that what they just saw happens and is continuing to happen around the world. That is the true horror of this film.
