They ignoring Halloween II because of the sister angle twist in II

Why bring it up the sister/brother subject in the new movie?

If Halloween II hadn’t exist...All of us would had thought Myers was just out to kill a babysitter with no family connection in mind...

This brother/sister plot line should not even be mention in speculation with the new movie at all!!

Its not being mentioned in the new movie. Its being ignored. They are also ignoring part 2 so that they can remove the supernatural element to Myers. In this new one, he's just a killer. Not an unkillable superhuman killer.

I should have said it's not being mentioned as if to suggest it is canon.

The writers and producers of the new movie said that even though this movie ignores all previous sequel continuity, it will pay homage to those films in little ways. The throwaway line about the brother/sister relationship as a rumor is an homage (to the fact that it was established as canon in previous sequels). But they explicitly state that they aren't siblings and that it's just a rumor. Just like the scene in the gas station restroom is likely another homage to Halloween: H20.

Learn the distinction between homage and continuity please

A. it's included in the movie to tell THE AUDIENCE that they're no longer brother and sister, which is smart considering they've been doing the "Michael only goes after his family" storyline since 1988 and a ton of people who have seen any of those movies would still be thinking that's the case yet again in this new film unless it was specifically told to them that it's not.

B. The storyline reason given is that their family connection is simply a typical schoolyard rumor that spread trying to make the story sound more creepy, which makes perfect sense and is an easy way to get rid of it in the canon of the new movies. The end.
