This film blew me away. Really didn't expect such a great film, everything about it was done well.

It's a shame this film will most likely remain underrated due to it's misleading title. And also for the fact there will be many ignorant retards who simply see this as a Cast Away rip off and skip past it in the film store.

Meh, ignorant fools don't deserve to watch this masterpiece anyway.

Amazing movie specially if you're an Avoidant like me

reply

I agree. I didn't expect this movie to be so fun.

Agree with all of you!
I am from Pakistan... and I see every Korean film and you should know why if you have watched this, I saw the devil and many many many others like peppermint candy and many

reply

I loved this movie. I am from the U.S. but I have to agree with the fellow from Pakistan, the Koreans make the best movies on the planet. If it were up to me I would just turn the whole peninsula into a movie studio and let them have at it.

I find the Japs and Chinese, along with the Koreans, make the best films. Do you have any good Korean films you'd like to recommend?

reply

If you are familiar with Korean films then these are not going to be new to you but the following are some of my favorites:

Old Boy
My Sassy Girl
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring (or anything by Kim Ki-Duk)
Memories of a Murder
Christmas in August
Oasis
Any of the Revenge series

Just fun to watch:
The Beast and the Beauty (laughed so hard I cried)
The Art of Seduction
The Host
Many of the Korean Dramas: Winter Sonata, Spring Waltz, Coffee Prince, Full House...

I will give you this: the Japanese make the saddest movies:
Grave of the Fireflies
Nobody Knows
Memories of Matsuko

Some of my favorite Chinese films are:
To Live, Not One Less (or anything by Zhang Yimou)
Chungking Express
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Eat Drink Man Woman
Millineum Mambo, Three Times (or anything by Hou Hsiao Hsien)

But I have to say the Koreans win for all around quality and entertainment.

Just finished watching Castaway on the Moon and can honestly say it was absolutely superb storytelling at its best (something only the Asian film makers know how to STILL do)! The bloke did a great job but it was the girl Kim who was astonishingly emotive and I did have to wipe a tear away a couple of times after being allowed to observe her agrophobic existence.

As for Korean films to watch, check out The Chaser, a serial-killer film and that director's newest film, The Yellow Sea (but make sure you get the Korean version and not the international one).

Also, track down I saw the Devil, which is YET ANOTHER serial-killer movie from Korea, The Good, the Bad and the Weird and Failan.

But hands down, the greatest south Korean movie I have seen is without doubt A Bittersweet Life and it puts most Hollywood gangster films to shame, so track it down and watch it, NOW!

I remember seeing A bittersweet Life in the cinema when it came out. I must have been about 15 or so but it was the first Korean film I saw. Absolutely love that movie.

I saw the devil is also just ridiculously badass, and the Good, the bad, the weird is such good fun.

That director/actor combo is a winner. I hope they keep working together.

Absolutely insanely great.

As compelling a film as I've ever seen. The themes running through this film speak straight to the core of what humanity is.

Just a great piece of film making. I loved this film.
