Sandra Episode January 22, 2017

Boy, this has been the most frustrating Hoarders episode I have ever seen. Matt is acting unprofessionally (I would be irritated at her too!), but Sandra should not have been part of the clean-up. There is so much trash and junk coming out of that house, that I do not believe Sandra would even miss it. It is as if the producers want the drama rather than making sure this woman receives the help she needs. Sandra's brothers were easily manipulated by her. Dr. Zasio seemed genuinely upset, but why allow this woman to control everything? Hopefully this ends better than what I expect. Scooping trash into boxes is the ultimate of mental illness. Although she is mentally ill, I have no sympathy for her.

reply

If it were my house that she was refusing to leave, I would have had her removed by the sheriff so that I could have the clean up crews get to work and remove the stuff from the property.

Those new owners were too generous and although I somewhat agree with why they did it, she did take advantage of their kindness and stepped all over them.

At that point, that's when all bets are off, especially when she told them she had lawyers still investigating that the house still belonged to her.

Ill or not, what an ungrateful old bitch.

reply

I have never so much wanted to reach into my tv and murder somebody. The crew had no need to apologize to her, she played them all for fools. She took advantage of the kindness and good intentions of the two gentlemen who bought the place, nobody else would have put up with this nutbag for half the time that they did. This was two full hours of her saying the same crap over and over and over, and she knew exactly what she was doing by stalling. I don't feel sorry for her situation and I really feel for the crew who had to deal with her. I'm surprised Matt didn't blow a long time before he finally did.

reply

that was the time Michael and Eric needed to have the sheriff remove her from the property.

Technically she was trespassing since she no longer owned the property and could have been arrested, no?

reply

Why the heck were they all crying at the end? They knew what was coming and they did what they had to do. They gave this woman an ample amount of time to get herself straight. Cyberrg, I agree with you. I had no sympathy.

reply

I think it had more to do with recognizing what this woman's illness cost her.

Hoarding is a severe mental disorder that is usually triggered by loss. A Hoarder saves everything not only because they think it has "value" but because to let anything go causes them extreme panic and anxiety.

They suffer grief over the loss of these items and the memories surrounding many things. They also think one day they might need it and if it is not there they will suffer anguish and not be able to replace it.

Having said that, I do not think most hoarders are capable of going through their stuff to determine what should be kept and what they can donate. The process can take forever.

I think a hoarder's hoard just has to be hauled out and trashed. They have to go "cold turkey" and experience that withdrawal. Sandra's "warehouse" was her friend's house. And Sandra's stuff will probably remain there until she passes away.

reply

I agree with you SN51431 about the hoard hauled out and trashed. Why hang on to something that has urine and feces on it! Throw that (literal) *beep* out!

reply

Sandra's "warehouse" was her friend's house

More likely his yard.

reply

Yes, and she will continue to hoard things there until her friend has had enough. Too bad by then Sandra will claim the right to live there and the eviction process starts all over again.

reply

I work for hoarders as an organizer, and it really is actually worse to remove the owner and throw stuff out without their permission. It causes major panic attacks and breakdowns.
This was the saddest episode ever. Deepest denial yet. They ended up enabling her a bit just so she wouldn't implode. Been there.
The boys who bought her house were the sweetest. Worst home buying experience ever.

reply

Just watched it , zero sympathy, so fake too
The "producers" were totally off the mark, because Sandra had no redeeming qualities.
Paxton kept it real however Dr Z was full of *beep* and so were the owners...smdh:(

& she's not your damn Grandmother!!! Damn!!!
