Chum singlehandedly killing show; he is unwatchable!!!!

If not for DVR, know we could not sit through this. Rick/Old Man/Cory......great characters...........as well as all of their other employees we see.

If they continue to show more him/less old man, stick a fork in this show (thought may too late for that).

The SINGLE BEST THING THIS SHOW COULD DO IS DUMP HIM.

Rant over (we just watched 3 episodes on DVR last night, thank god the DVR remote batteries worked great!!!)

What I'd like to see:

Reminiscent of the 1960s "Cultural Revolution" in China, Chum wearing a huge dunce cap, a sign around his neck mockingly proclaiming him "Employee Of The Month", while a crowd taunts and jeers him as he is paraded down the street.

That would warm the cockles of my heart.

I agree for the most part. I can't say I haven't ever been slightly entertained by a Chum storyline but I can say I have watched every single episode of this show since the beginning and the amount of times I have liked him can be counted on one hand.

The "comedy" that they try to manufacture around his stupidity is simply not funny. We get it; he is dumb, he doesn't like the late shift, he breaks stuff and is always trying to get out of work. It's just not funny.

I watch this show for the interesting items brought in and watching them assign values and explain why they figure that price. The negotiating is also interesting. The appeal of the show is the easiest part of the show: pawning. Why can't they leave it at that? These side story lines just take away from the point of the show, again they are just not funny.

You're wearing my breast, little Jack is drinking, Moses is sodomizing Jinx. What is going on here?

I've said it before, just when you think it isn't humanly possible for Chum to become more annoying, he manages it. For the love of Jesus I want to see his downfall.

Unfortunately, I think that wide load will outdo us all. He won't end up homeless or dying of a drug overdose like (insert several names here). He may never repeat the success of Pawn Stars, but I believe he got his destructive behavior out of his system when he was younger. Darn, I want to see his final humiliation, but I think he'll outdo us all.

I don't think Chum is a multi-millionaire but he is very well off courtesy of the show. And with his new-found wealth, he's now able to get girlfriends. It may be hard to accept but he's actually the most popular of the cast, which I'm sure must drive Rick especially crazy. Chum doesn't need to "work" at the store ever again, thanks to his earnings from the series, but he's kept on to provide comedic entertainment. So as long as the History Channel keeps giving them paychecks, they're not going anywhere.

reply

Actually Chum is worth $5,000,000 thanks to other outside interests:

I am getting bored with the show. I just like to see the things brought in. Tired of Rick and the Old Man, Chum isn't funny, and "Big Hoss" is annoying and doesn't add anything to the show.

reply

Does anyone think the producers of the show think we believe that the dialogue and characters are "real?" I mean, they know we understand it's all phony, right? Or do they?

In other words, how dumb do they think we are, exactly?

Thoughts?

As somebody else mentioned - thank God for DVR's. I couldn't watch this show any other way. Problem is I'm fast forwarding through more and more of the show - anything other than when they're evaluating items coming in to their store.

I am wondering what has become of the Old Man, and what is the true ownership. I
keep hearing Rick saying it's his store, but the Old Man started it, and now just likes to come in there to kabitz with the family and the Chum?

reply

I remember an episode where the Old Man stated he owned 51% (and therefore controlled the company).

Now Corey apparently owns a percentage--remember that episode where Corey threatens to quit, even interviews for a job (yah, right), because he wants a piece of the company?

If Corey actually did receive a piece then no one person has 51%.

However, I assume that the Old Man (before Corey getting a share) ceded much control to Rick, not in terms of ownership on paper, but in practical terms. Rick does act like he is in charge, that what he says goes. When the Old Man owned 51% he had ultimate control, but that doesn't mean he always exercised that control.

But your guess is as good as mine if the above is correct. In a privately-held company, it is not unusual for the ownership to be spread out amongst a few family members.

reply

Which is one reason this show has nose-dived into the Lame Pool. Remember the episode when Chum thought he won $10,000 on a scratch ticket and "quit"? He probably makes that much in less than a week, why would he quit? That would be like a cashier hitting a scratch ticket for $100, throwing her smock on the floor and walking out.

reply

Whatever, just saw him buy a Banksy 10-pound bill that's worth $300-500 retail, for $400, in front of the old man - who told him to take care of it and then to shut up.. Chumlee was faster to speak than Rick Sr. & I face-palmed immediately; it just hurts to see him do anything, lol! xD

reply

He got excited and threatened to quit as a joke to get corey back for the fake ticket which chum already knew about, How chum hasnt been sacked yet beggers beleif he is a lazy arrogant spoilt brat and no employer would put up with his constant inconsideration, and whats the deal with his whiter than white teeth ?

reply

He hasn't been fired because his attitude and laziness and all that nonsense is in the script. All that fat waste of life is now is an actor (a bad one at that) playing a role just like bald guy, old guy and the other fat guy. You don't actually believe that what happen on this lousy show is real do you? Its all fake and scripted and that includes the buying of items or more appropriately put props that the people (also usually actors) bring in to the Pawn Tards show related merchandise shop that was once maybe an actual pawn shop.

reply

Unless Chum plays the character at all times, I doubt that everything is an act. I meet him at the auto show few years ago - I took my little cousin because he wanted to meet him. Chum acted just like he does on the show and he signed his name like a 7 year old would. Is it possible that he "plays the character" at all times in public? Possibly, but that would make him world's greatest actor.

reply

Yeah, for sure... He's, just, extremely stupid; heh. ;-f

reply

LMAO! Agreed on every point! the Harrisons are all crusty, and Chum's an idiot. He's physically painful to watch.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog

reply

Apparently Corey is only worth half as much as Chumlee. That must piss him off.

reply

Chum is by far the most popular person on the show. They're going to feature him as much as possible. My daughter works at a casino where the "Pawn Stars" cast (Rick, Corey and Chum) made an appearance and did a signing. Very, very few people wanted Rick or Corey's autographs, but Chum had a HUGE line of people waiting to pay for his signature. While Corey was like "whatever", Rick reportedly became visibly upset over it and ended up ending the signing session early.

reply

Do you guys whine about how pro wrestling isn't real too? Doesn't that get old after a while?

I find Chumlee and all the Pawn Stars to be hilarious. Maybe you don't. Maybe you like Big Bang Theory or Family Guy; shows that I can't stand and find to be totally un-funny. It's just a matter of taste. But I've never gone on a Big Bang Theory or Family Guy website and whined about it.

reply

But you come on this thread a whine, so what's the difference?

reply

This.

I am amazed at how some people (who must be completely miserable in RL) spend endless hours watching shows they loathe then proceed to come to the IMDB boards to endlessly belittle and complain.

I don't like shepherd's pie, but I'm not gonna keep eating it every day then proceed to complain to everyone who'll listen about how awful it is. Much better to spend one's time doing things we like.

Some people truthfully do not have anything better to do in their lives....sad.

IMDB's ignore user button = priceless :)

reply

Actually not miserable, you know nothing dingaling (if you're allowed to make assumptions, then you have opened the door to make it a 2 way street).

But many people, like myself, like the show, but CANT STAND that character.....thus the great invention of the DVR..........where we just fast forward thru that fool and the commercials...

reply

I met Chum few years ago and I'm not sure that everything is an act. There was a car show here in town few years ago and Chum and Rick were guests. My little cousin wanted an autograph from Chum so we waited in line for hours. He talked a little bit to my cousin and then signed a t-shirt. He sounded just like he does on the show and signed his name like a 8 year old.

reply

(What did you expect :))

reply

I just started watching this show. I totally agree, I hate Chum, I think he's the stupidest person on television right now. I like the show as others here have said to see some of the historical items and things hit the shop. I don't care ab out the backstory drama or anything, especially with Chum. He seems rude, lazy, and obnoxious, and with his recent legal troubles, I don't think he really deserves a spot on the show anymore.

reply

I could tolerate Chum's ignorance and stupidity, but the last couple of episodes he has become obnoxious and rude as well. He and Corey putting down things from Rick's generation (BTW I suspect a large portion of the audience is from that generation), and Chum interrupting Rick while he's speaking, really put me off liking this show. Rude and stupid are an unwatchable combination.

Nobody gets to be a cowboy forever.

reply

Rick wants his cell phone charger back, Chum complains, pouts, then throws it at Rick, missing him.

Chum is an A-Hole.

reply

The producers and writers are ruining the show. Chum is just a stupid pawn.

When you put it that way, it gives a new meaning to the title Pawn Stars.

reply

At least the shine from Chum's teeth seems to have dimmed somewhat.
