I didn't get to see it as it had a very limited screening near me, but I heard Hiddlestone interviewed on a radio show, on which he also did a couple of songs. I thought he sounded dreadful - like what he was, an English guy trying to do an American accent. Holly (above) says he got all the nuances etc, which is at odds with what Hiddlestone himself said - that he wasn't trying to do an "impression" of Williams. Well I say, please DO do an impression of Williams, if that's who you're trying to portray. Anything else you want to bring to the character in the name of your "art", by all means, feel free, and be judged on it, but if you're doing a biopic of one of the most famous singers that ever lived, SOUND LIKE HIM.

And yeah, I know, I know, in true IMDB style, I just don't "get" it. I thought I'm Not There, the Dylan movie with different people Including, OMG, how daring, Cate Blanchett!) playing him, was unbearable tosh, so call me a philistine. I just know what I like.

You're absolutely right and not only that Hiddleston does not pronounce several words the same way that Williams did in his performances. I'm mystified by the love that's out there for Hiddleston's performance here because it's one of the weaker things about the movie and never makes Williams come off as a fully realized human being. I guess a popular movie star can get away with anything on the screen by their fans.
