I Think I Know Why This Film Got A 5/10
Seems like this movie requires more inference from the audience -- from the dialogue, to all the little subtleties sprinkled throughout the film. The meaning/messages are pretty indirect.
Everything wasn't overly simplified & spelled out for the viewer - how the mindless general public likes their films. It wasn't all wrapped up in a neat little package with a bow.
I keep seeing posts about how the plot/dialogue didn't make any sense & the film was "boring." I think this film is more for those who have an active mind -- not the lazy-minded majority of people, just looking for a good cinematic spectacle.
I can't help but think that we live in a lazy society of people obsessed with simplicity and neatly-packaged crap -- I thought this was a quality film that just requires a little effort from the viewer, and doesn't fit in with all the other junk food cinema, pumped out weekend after weekend.
Personally, I liked the "boring" day-in-the-life format of the film & the thought-provoking conversations that it centered around. That's just me -- I like films that require (& generate) thought.
That's why I think it got such a bad score. What about you?
