I Think I Know Why This Film Got A 5/10

Seems like this movie requires more inference from the audience -- from the dialogue, to all the little subtleties sprinkled throughout the film. The meaning/messages are pretty indirect.

Everything wasn't overly simplified & spelled out for the viewer - how the mindless general public likes their films. It wasn't all wrapped up in a neat little package with a bow.

I keep seeing posts about how the plot/dialogue didn't make any sense & the film was "boring." I think this film is more for those who have an active mind -- not the lazy-minded majority of people, just looking for a good cinematic spectacle.

I can't help but think that we live in a lazy society of people obsessed with simplicity and neatly-packaged crap -- I thought this was a quality film that just requires a little effort from the viewer, and doesn't fit in with all the other junk food cinema, pumped out weekend after weekend.

Personally, I liked the "boring" day-in-the-life format of the film & the thought-provoking conversations that it centered around. That's just me -- I like films that require (& generate) thought.

That's why I think it got such a bad score. What about you?

Like most Cronenberg fans, I agree with you. What I don't agree with is catagorizing people that didn't like the movie as lazy. Who the hell knows? It's very easy to draw that conclusion. But when dealing with "opinions"there really can't be a dispute. Not everybody like ice cream. Peace.

The score stands at 5.0 out of 10 because the film is awful at worst and mediocre at best. It's not a good film, It's that simple.

Because Furious 7 has 7.8 score at the moment.

I could not agree with you more Ryan. This is a challenging film that cannot be passively absorbed. It's similar to The Shining in that it requires audience participation and an active imagination to complete the picture. Do not watch this movie if you're not at least 85% awake.
