Very disappointing from a pro-feminist perspective

At first it seems like a movie that's great for women and especially Hollywood women. It was written by women, started women, was about women, etc. However, sadly, once you view it.... womp womp. :( .... it propels negative stereotypes about women not getting along with each other, perpetuates the myth that women get attached to men they sleep with and then act desperate for those men, and feeds insecurities about body image. Probably one of the most disappointing female lead films in a while, and this is sadly the one we all point to to prove that female lead movies can be high earning and win an Oscar, etc. Just proves that as long as women are willing to be self deprecating, our work can be accepted mainstream.

Did OP not notice that this movie revolves around a wedding? A wedding, a $70 billion industry that cashes in on grifting women. From the overpriced white dresses, to the tradition of the bride’s family footing the bill, to the ugly bridesmaid dresses, hen nights, bridal showers, tiered cakes, diamonds. It’s not a feminist institution.

So this movie takes society where it at is on this issue, and pokes some fun at it. I wonder if the OP has been to many weddings. This movie exaggerates but it aligns perfectly with the current traditions and attitudes about weddings, and all the emotions they stir in their wake.
