Mike clearly hired her because he wanted to give the mostly european audience someone who looked like them on stage. Shes ok, but there are clearly hundreds of better guitarists in the americas who could play what he was going for better than her.

She didnt know what she was doing during the rehearsals and her voice is also wretched.

The real shame is that shes going to be using this to launch her career. She didnt need to be on stage with Mike period, and she can thank being on there only on her looks(which look abysmal to me). I find it really funny carlos Santana can say hes "Passing the torch" to her like he would be one to pass a torch. Hes not the best guitarist, and he never was

Orianthi's guitar= 30 seconds of mess with about an hour of synth over it

Geez, give her a break. The majority of fans enjoyed her work. You all should know that talent is only part of the equation. She's got the whole package going on.

Geez... you really are a bitch. What do you mean "she didn't need to be on stage", she's performing with him you nimrod!!. And she's not supermodel material, honey. She's just a very talented beautiful, guitarist who really can kick ass without any emo makeup going on.

She didn't know what to do while on stage? Well, like Michael said, "That's why we have rehearsels, that's ok. That's why we rehearse." She does a fantastic job at what she does and Mike liked her enough to include her in the band.

The fact that she's allowed to perform with Michael on stage says more than thousand words. What better proof do you need for her talent???

Well, my opinion, of course, is what matters to me. And, since I am not an MJ fan, I'm sure I know nothing. But I did see a clip of the performance with Orianthi and Mr. Jackson sure could DANCE and put on one hell of a show, couldn't he?

But this is about Orianthi. Very recently, I fell across her new album (courtesy of Rolling Stone magazine, which I HATE). But this time I'm glad I read the New Artists section. Orianthi's mentioned. Looked to me like I should give a listen to her music.

I've listened to a few tunes in my day. Rarely have I heard anything like what she can do. Someone mentioned her wretched voice? Hmmmm..ok...well...how's yours? As good? I enjoy good guitar riffs and heavy stuff a lot. And she's simply superb at playing the guitar and singing. It's not for everyone. But you cannot say she lacks talent. She's got a new CD out that I had never heard of until recently. Nothing to do with MJ. Just good tunes and great geetar. A bit country, but some nice bluesy stuff too. And some rock bordering on metal. And, of course, those pop tunes with some nice guitar work. NOT FOR THOSE OVER 40!!!! GO LISTEN TO ERIC CLAPTON OR SOMEONE ELSE. This is for young people. Only kidding. I find tunes like these help me feel younger.

And she's not from Europe. Aussie. But now in the US. To do popular music...and anything else she pleases. Some opinons of her are negative. Not mine. Not at all.

Now I want to get the DVD...might be a really good show! MJ looked pretty light on his feet for someone 2309482309483948 years old!!!! It is sad he didn't get to give the performances. And this coming from someone who didn't give a damn a few weeks ago.

I was in absolute wonderment from her guitar skills! She totally rocked and Micheal new she was talented and was encouraging her to give it her all!

MJ was a perfectionist, he would have NEVER let someone be a part of his band if he wasn't convinced of their talent. It has nothing to do with him being nice, there are only few people in the world that are good enough to be able to perform with the big MJ on stage, Orianthi is one of them.

I'm in the neutral zone here. While I think Orianthi is a great guitarist if I were to rate her from 1-10 I'd give her maybe a 6. She's got speed but not much else goin on...however her career is still in the beginning and if she's at this level now then with the proper progression of her talent she could be great....plus she's hot haha

if "Katie" knew anything about playing guitar, then she wouldn't say Orianthi sucks. So, Johnny, I wouldn't hold my breath for a response on that.

I think Orianthi is great but I also think Jennifer Batten, who was his "other" female blonde guitarist for years going all the way back to the Bad tour, deserves props too. She is the one you see in Live at Bucharest and all the other shows from that era. I'm not sure why she was no longer with him for this tour. Orianthi is the new kid on the block and is getting a lot of exposure thanks to the movie. But Jennifer blazed the path for her.

For whatever its worth...

The This Is It shows were not her career launch.

She's already done some high profile work PRIOR to the MJ project. (Notably, performing as lead guitarist in Carrie Underwood's band on the 2009 Grammy Awards.)

And the solo album was already pre-planned.

Yeah, I guess her album may benefit from the new exposure, thanks to the movie, but what can you do.

I don't understand! How come people don't like her? She IS talented, she has a gift, why you just give her her props? She was chosen to play for Michael not only for variety but because is among the best of the best, so clearly you thinking she 'sucks' is among the opposite here.
She clearly blew me--an American--away when I saw her shred.
