One of the Best Science Fiction Movies Ever Made

I know that haters are going to hate... But I've now watched this movie 3 times, over the course of about 2 years... And this time I cried at the end.

Maybe the haters should give it another try; maybe they missed something.

Maybe they went in with the wrong expectations, and so they were disappointed.

I don't know... But this film is a masterpiece.

Definite 9/10, I didn't think anything this good had been made since District 9 but I was wrong.

And of course the ADHD fast-food-movie generation would vote it a 6.4/10, what can ya do.

And yes, that ending is pure genius.

I agree, good flick. I was surprised reading how low budget it was, without many real extras. I did catch this on the second viewing when Scoots asking the guy on the bike where to buy ship tickets. The guy points across the street and Scoot says that that place is closed - the guy on the bike gets adament that, no, it's not closed and it's right over there. The crew just saw some random guy riding by on his bike and read script. Lol, that's win right there. Probably didn't even sign a release. One of his friends probably just told him, "Hey Jose, why didn't you tell us you were in a movie?"

But I will call it fresh and relevant. Star Wars turned science fiction into a genre of spectacle and action, but this film (like Contact) returns us to speculation, interrogation, and contemplation. You can't have too much drama in good science fiction: from Verne to Wells to Asimov to Gibson - and everybody in between - writers of science fiction have always been writing about the human heart and potential. It is what it is.

I did really enjoy this odd little film.

Now, will someone please give us a fully realized, definitive Dune?

I liked it. 7/10. I do think a lot of people watched it with the wrong expectations. I love indie films.

Complete agree, this is one of the best sci-fi films ever. As for the haters, yeah, they only understand film as entertainment, not art. Some will eventually evolve, the rest will continue to troll, LOL!

... you gave 2001 5/10 stars, that pretty much sums it up right there
