what was all the hype about??? unless i got a censored version but movies like Saw and Antichrist were much more horrific, so what gives???
The first film leaves a lot to the viewers imagination, they don't really show much. If you want to see a really sick film check out either of the two sequels.

The second would have been better if it were in color but was still good. The third can be skipped as it was just stupid
shareThe first is not as extreme as the second. I think the first is the best (but I have not seem 3 yet) because it doesn't need to show every horrible detail.
If maximum grossness is what you want, watch Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence. It's pretty repulsive.
It was more psychological than anything. I personally do not like movies with gore as it takes away from the plot. I like to be curious as to what I am watching and make my own conclusions.

This is correct. It's more of a 'picture the worst thing you can imagine in your mind' kind of thing. There's a few gross parts of course, and the setup itself is revolting, but the first HC wasn't meant to be torture porn flick like people expected. That's what the sequel was for.

That was always the thing with this movie. It was nowhere near as gross or as shocking as everybody says it was.
Not that a horror movie needs to be graphic or full of gore to be good. In fact a lot of my favourite ones aren't. By why hype it up as the grossest movie of all time, if it really isn't going to be like that? It's just going to disappoint those who watch it to see something controversial, and just gets a movie a lot of negative press that it doesn't deserve. (This movie was dull, if anything.)
Apparently the sequels are a lot worse, but haven't seen them.
