This one gets my vote as one of the worst episodes. There weren't many of those, but this one makes it near the top of a short list.

I agree. It works best i think when the murderer is an interesting character, but these two are just caricatured

It would have been better if they'd had an actual English actor playing Basehart's role, not an American doing a campy version of one. Although the British Blackman is pretty awful in this too, I agree.

I had a thread up about British actors who'd have made perfect fits for the show a while back, but with the high turnover on this board it's gone by now. Maybe it's time to start another one.

why in the world didn't they use a british actor then? it's not like there would be a shortage and it is the same language... this was new to me. while i've seen this series before this is one episode i always re watch when it airs since it remarkable stars, in my opinion, one of the most marvellous bond girls and of the british 1960's crime series "the avengers", she wasn't part of that series greatest seasons though, those starred another great bond girl (hmm... maybe there is a shortage of british movie stars), i was surprised they manage to shoot london at a sunny sky for once, there still is something dreadful looking about it though, some of the acting of this in several roles seem a bit shaky i must say, i thought honor blackman's hairstyle appeared even better in this than in goldfinger, i think perhaps it partly has to do with the colour, is it just me or does her partner in crime seem to have a hard time avoiding checking out her boobies at about 1:15 into the episode/movie. i recognise the butler from one of my favorite season 4 episodes of the twilight zone (passage on the lady anne), funny how his appearance never seemed to change from that, to this, to the 1980's comedy "the toy" where he again played a butler if i recall right. one of the funniest scenes in this is when columbo listens to a guy speaking in the usual british slang way, and he turns to the guy next to him "what'd he say?"

middle east sizzling heat,
has me frying up in smoke at chilly home street,
you left the office desk,
wish you could be at more than one place,
swayed your dress tan curves blurred my vision to melt,
where were you all mornings i awoke as teen boob,
your intense sunshine dont fit the gloomy days im now used to.
