Russel Crowe’s face—plothole

One thing that bothered me, was how Russell Crowe’s character never bothered to try and covered up his facial wounds after being attacked by the thugs. He was able to set up this elaborate escape plan, with backup jackets and caps etc, but never thought to get some concealer or makeup? Anybody with bruises and scratches on the face looks suspicious!
