An American version?

Let me start out by saying I am an American, and this is a epic bad idea.

Like many Americans, I would love to this movie, but it hasn't been released in the US. According to many sources, they state that the producers haven't found a distrubator for the US release. What strikes me strange though, is that Paramont Pictures logo is the first thing you see in the trailer, and Paramont IS a major distrubator in the US. So, this has me thinking.

It would not be unlike Hollywood to "Americanize" this movie, moving the setting from Australia to California and changing the cast. This is a terrible idea which disrespects the book and the brillant Australian cast and crew. Instead of spending the money to basically remake this movie "American", just release the Australian film in the US.

You need to watch more films! It was already done in the 80s, "Red Dawn".

There's a reason why this wasn't released in US theaters and it lost $10 million...the acting is HORRIBLE. Watching it on cable, my first reaction after realizing the author heavily "borrowed" from Red Dawn, was that these kids were so annoying I was actually pulling for the invaders to locate and at least capture them. I can't imagine this movie appealing to anyone over the age of 16.

There's nothing wrong with ripping off someone's idea for a movie...it happens all the time. What Tomorrow sadly lacks, however, is any of the cross-generational appeal Red Dawn has based on the annoying dialog and even more annoying acting.

I now own the bluray, and I liked it. Since they are filming part 2, I can't wait. I do like the book series WAY better though.

I think most would say that 'Tomorrow, When the War Began' is the Australian version of Red Dawn, which was way better in my opinion. So really by your logic it's the book and 'brilliant' Australian cast and crew that at are disrespecting the American original. And by brilliant cast I assume you mean because everyone looked like a model, because their acting skills weren't all that great.
