It's just not funny anymore. It never really was for me. The guy ruthlessly bullied his baby sister and it was just sad to watch. Now he's in college and still being mean to her? Wtf.

He could get very mean at times but I liked how he was in the wisdom teeth episode. He was actually nice to hear.

I agree... My brother would pick on me but never in malicious way. I really like The Middle but I never found it funny. He is so mean to her.
shareHe's come a long way though since the start of the show. He still makes fun of her, but he does more stuff with her like invite her to parties and willingly offer her advice. He'll probably always bully her, but I don't think he does it in a malicious way. It's his way of showing that he cares about her.
shareHe does tease her a lot, but he has also been there for her when she needs him to be. He's not a sentimental guy, but he does plenty of things to prove that he really does care about his sister. A few examples:
He kept Sean from knowing that it was Sue who wrote the awkward and very embarrassing poem professing her love to him by telling him that it was some lyrics to a song he was working on and the hearts she drew were actually butts
He cleared everyone out of Sue's way so she could get to her class on time (granted, this was after he had caused her to be late by convincing her to take swimming which was at the other end of the school)
He showed up at her dorm and took her out for pizza after she had a rough first week of college

I'm watching some of the older episodes in syndication, and he is such a jerk to her, and his mother, and Brick to an extent, The only one he isn't an ass to, is his father, and that maybe because he's afraid of him.
