Rewatching the final episode. Spartacus and Gannicus are discussing their impending final, fateful battle with the Roman legions. Gannicus refers to Spartacus’ intended strategic gambit. “Gambit” means THE OPENING move by a player in the game of Chess. Chess was introduced in India in the 8th century AD. Spartacus was born in 111 BC.

It was a GREAT series, but this is a fuck up.

To repeat, “gambit” ONLY means “the first move by a player in a game of chess.” It IS NOT the entire strategy for a caper movie like, well, Gambit.

Words matter. So does accuracy.
