What the?

Oh please, let's not start this again. Season 2 ratings weren't any worse than season 1's were. Considering how many times Fox bounced season 2 around the schedule, it didn't fair too badly.

reply

Not really a surprise. They lost a large chunk of their audience at the start of the season, and it never got close to the ratings that would warrant renewal. Looks like those changes didn't work out so well, eh Fox?

reply

I just found out. Terrible news. I'm not even gonna hope that another network picks it up because I know it'd be a waste of my time.

I REALLY want the CW to pick up "Nikita" for a second season.

Hopefully, another network picks it up. Maybe if dvd sales are strong enough?

This sucks! It was that stupid Varma lady that killed the last season! *beep* Fox!

reply

They need to stop canceling great shows just because they don't think enough people are watching it. I'm glad they got through 2 seasons, but I was hoping for a 3rd. At least Burn Notice is still on.

reply

You and the rest of the T.V. watching world believe that- but T.V. execs only believe in money and possibly getting an open slot for THEIR pet projects(no matter how many times they fail).

reply

Fox really pisses me off. They've cancelled more shows that I enjoy than the other 3 networks combined. Human Target is just the latest and it makes me wonder if I should ever bother investing myself in any future show on Fox. It's probably why their ratings are so low because they cancel so many shows after one or two seasons and people just don't feel like supporting future shows because they fear that they'll be cancelled too. Fox has to start giving their shows more time or else they'll always be 4th behind NBC, ABC and CBS.

You are totally out of touch with reality. Fox has been the TOP network in the key demo for 6 YEARS and regularly beats out ABC and NBC in total viewers. How exactly is that 4th place? NBC has been the 4th place network for a while now.

Stop making things up to suit your point...

reply

@ douces - With what I see of NBC's Fall schedule, I don't see much changing with that. Then again, I don't believe ABC is exactly that far ahead of NBC to begin with since it seems that they're canceling a good chunk of their shows.

I think that Lone Star bombing right out of the gate screwed up a lot of plans for FOX. If Human Target stayed where it was supposed to (Fridays at 8pm), I think that it'd probably get around the 1.3 it got the one night it did air on a Friday.

reply

The only reason Fox is at the top is because of all the teeny-boppers watching American Idol. Take that and X-Factor away and they'd be bottom of the barrel in viewership.

reply

Are you kidding me? FOX has only maintained that top spot because of the idiots that still watch american idol. CBS is clearly the network that has the best shows on a weekly basis. FOX has basically turned into a reality tv network. other than Monday they don't really have any shows on other than reality tv. I refuse to watch reality tv and therefore no longer watch anything on FOX.

reply

I'm sure the audience never would've been huge for "HT," but it's no surprise that something doesn't get great ratings when you yank it around and throw it on whenever. This season of "HT" was screwed with big time. They'd air two back to back, then not air any, then air one on a different night at a different time. WTF??

I would think it would cost more to start up a new show than to produce an existing show. Not sure how much it cost to shoot "HT," given all the action and such. So now two of the few shows on TV that I watch (this and "Lie To Me") are gone. Ugh!

Dilemma...

Because networks cancel shows so frequently, I prefer not to start watching it and get invested from the start. Better to wait for the DVD and catch up later. That way you know it's either going strong (into whatever season it's in) or has been cancelled. You're not invested from the start. It sucks losing shows you like.

On the other hand, when you wait for the DVD, you run the risk of having stuff spoiled by overhearing something from someone or on tv...or you read it in a magazine. I had the Carver thing spoiled on "Nip/Tuck" by People magazine when I was waiting to catch it on DVD. That blows too.
