There's probably others that I can't think of right now.
Jack of all Trades was a syndicated show so you could have seen it anywhere. There's actually a few dozen shows like that for me that were canceled, but you those are harder to point fingers of blame.

You people do realize that many of the shows you are mentioning would never had a chance to air had another show not been canceled to make room? Slightly ironic.
LOL. I think about that. Most of these shows ended up on Fox cause all the other networks passed on them and they never would have been made at all. And the only reason Fox turns out so many interesting shows is cause they do in fact cancel them to make room. This is an interesting strategy and it's worked out very well for Fox. I just wish that once Fox was done with them the shows would be sold to another network or cable affiliate where they could continue. But yeah, for the post part, the Fox network is just a national Focus Group.

Oh yeah, that worked out so well for Sliders seasons 4 & 5 on Sci-Fi. I know what you're saying though and in a perfect world that would be the solution. Thing is all the niche market channels are gradually going mainsteam. Chiller isn't half the channel it was 3-4 years ago and SyFy is well---- just no.

So you think Joss Whedon could not have sold Dollhouse to just about any other network after he was responsible for "Buffy", "Angel" and "Firefly", 3 of the all time most popular shows in TV history?
Or that James "Whoever you are, if you name your 10 favorite movies of all time, I probably have made at least 2 of them" Caemeron could not have pushed his own productions, "Dark Angel" and "Terminator: SCC"? That guy held the record for most successful movie with Titanic right up to the moment when he crushed it with Avatar!
Don't defend FOX. There's no excuse for chancelling "Dark Angel", "Brisco County Jr." and "Firefly". One of those? sure. Two? Maybe...All three? Unforgivable.
I think humanity should be wiped out and then we can give evolution a second chance. reply share
I'm sorry, but as much as I love Firefly, calling it one of the most popular shows in TV history is moronic. A huge amount of it's fanbase only discovered it post-cancellation.
Yeah, and that's why all those 20 somethings who were not even born when star wars came out do not count towards it's fanbase and are completely neglected when people talk about it's popularity.
And also, no star trek fans below the age of 56 (14 when star trek first aired) are considered when people talk about the popularity of star trek.
I think humanity should be wiped out and then we can give evolution a second chance.
Like I said, probably a good 90% of it's current fanbase came AFTER it's cancellation. "One of the most popular shows in TV history" implies that lots of people were watching it during its original run. They weren't.
By that definition Van Gogh is not and never was a popular painter. Mozart is not and never was a popular musician (Although his stuff was kinda popular it was also very unsuccessful commercially).
Sorry, but to judge the popularity of something based on a limited timeframe is:
a) completely moronic and b) not senseful when judging the infulence of the creator
