The most vile display of racism towards Asian men I have ever seen.

Oh look a movie where the Asian guy doesn't get the girl and we worship the Hero while being the villains at the same time.

I could make this long (longer than than it is) and drawn out but I'll make it short. If you watch the movie again, I want you to pay special attention to the Asian men in the movie. You might notice some of the things I've (and probably many other people) noticed after watching it a few times.

This is what I believe the movie portrays. Here we go:

Asian men are weak and feeble. They can't get any women. (I'll get to this later.) They go to pathetic and low lengths to get their way. They envy the White man and want what they have but can't have. Asian men aren't good at combat. (I'll get to that later again.)

The Asian love interest of Wolverine (Mariko) absolutely DESIRES him. Her Asian suitor seems pathetic compared to Wolverine whom she ends up denying. She even goes as far as choosing to save Wolverines life and ending her own Grandfathers as an act of love. She doesn't even get with Wolverine at the end and still manages to look at him with such love and desire. This is all after her whole family is basically dead. (All Asian men so who cares right? As long as she has a shot at Wolverine!)

Also Asian women are the only ones worthy in combat? Some how the white woman (Viper) in the movie was killing Asian men left and right but Yukio was the only one able to defeat her? Seriously watch this movie and count how many times the women were effective versus the Asian men.

The movies plot is basically an Asian guy wanting what a god like White guy has but can't get it. So this Asian guy goes to extreme lengths and lows to try to achieve it but fails miserably. Not only does the white guy get away alive while leaving all the Asian men dead but he leaves with the only other Asian female character (Yukio) and wit the heart of the other. (Mariko)

Just imagine if all the Asians in this movie were black and the setting was in Africa. This would be called one of the most racist movies of all time and would probably start riots. Since it's against Asians and more specifically Asian men nobody gives a damn.

Basically. It's the way taught by the mass media. And the brainwashing begins since people are just kids, that is way more sickening. Just google "make it pop producer asian guys" and the video "Doll Test".

I thought there were some great Asian traits that were highlighted in this movie.

*The Japanese sense of honor and patriotism was shown during the Nagasaki attack when they were prepared to commit suicide because they may have failed in their mission.

*The Japanese acknowldgement of debt ( especially owing one's life to another) was shown when the young Japanese soldier offered his most prized possession to Wolverine ( who, in turn, asked him to keep it for him).

*True, the Japanese soldier- turned- old- business- tycoon wanted something that he thought someone else ( Wolverine) no longer wanted ( immortality), albeit he was misguided in getting it at all costs...but he actually offered the trade early on to Wolverine.

*Family came first -- the way the son allowed his father to practically spend all the family business fortune to pursue his dreams of immortality. True, he eventually against his father, but maybe because he thought his father had gone too far ( it became a personal folly to pursue dreams of immortality)...and he may have also wanted to save a corporate reputation of having established the largest Japanese conglomerate.

His daughter was also willing to follow his father, regardless that her romantic attachment may be with some else, by acceding to an unwanted engagement.

The granddaughter also respected and loved her grandfather.

*Yukio, who was adopted, showed a sense of loyalty to the family that rescured her from a life of penury. She is portrayed as both a sensitive woman and a courageous fighter. She also showed her personal loyalty and love to the young woman who treated her like a sister.

*The young suitor loved and protected his childhood friend and eventual romantic interest!

*The movie showed that the Asian fighters were brave and very knowledgeable in the art of fighting...and "the art of war" ( a book that has influenced Western thinking, albeit being the work of an Asian).

*Like other cultures, there are bad and good eggs...but I think it is only incidental that the antagonists in this movie were Asian. It could have been another culture that could have been represented.

Btw, I am also from the Asian side of Planet Earth!

Since you seem so smart and cucked at the same time.

This should be extremely simple for you to answer.

How many black heros and side characters are there in Captain America: Civil War?

Now count how many Asians.

It's honestly people like you who sit by and accept this racism that this will continue against our people.

SMH.

So what your saying is, Set a movie in Japan or China but you cannot use any natives of that country as the enemy or show them in any bad light?

reply

You didn't read anything I wrote or didn't understand or both.

The problem is the portrayal of Asian men regardless of where the movie is set.

reply

If I didn't read it couldn't be both, Anyway how are they portrayed in your view? enlighten me

I did notice that all four of the Japanese main male characters turned out to be villains. I don't normally scream "SJW!" about stuff like that, but they could have at least made Harada not turn out to be a chump.

Still my favorite superhero movie, though.

Harada was genuinely concerned for Mariko's safety and helped the protagonists the SECOND he realized how destructive and evil Yashida was.
Asian men are weak and feeble.
Not at all. Harada is an incredibly skilled warrior, Yashida was a strong honorable man when he was younger and saved Wolverine for no other reason than believing it right to do so, and Shingen was a strong fighter and leader but obsessed with his standing of power.
They envy the White man and want what they have but can't have.
What are you talking about? They just want him gone. Yashida wants his immortality, not because he's white. Not to mention that all of the white men with southern accentsat the bar who were depicted as drunk trigger-happy idiots doesn't warrant mention in possible interpretations of """"""racist""""" portrayals. But I suppose that would undermine your argument that the "white man" is put above others here. Wolverine is CONSTANTLY treated as an outsider in any culture, but especially in Japanese culture.
She even goes as far as choosing to save Wolverines life and ending her own Grandfathers as an act of love.
She had loved the person her grandfather was, and not the one he had become in obsession. Her father had gone insane with his quest to be immortal. Also, it's a Japanese woman delivering the final blow against the antagonist, but I guess we would have to get into the uncomfortable territory of showcasing women NOT weak and subservient to men. Also, do you just not include Japanese women in the analysis for fear that that will undermine your argument? Also, Viper was a white woman, but I guess that would also add to your "not helpful" section of the argument.
This is all after her whole family is basically dead. (All Asian men so who cares right? As long as she has a shot at Wolverine!)
Wow. You're actually starting to sound as nuts as Shingen in the film after he was poisoned. Her father tried to kill her because he thought she had worked against him to take away the company he thought he was in line to take over, Nobu was an idiot politician, Harada died saving Logan and Mariko's lives, Yashida was killed by Mariko because he was about to kill Wolverine for the chance at immortality. Yashida was the antagonist here, not Logan.
Not only does the white guy get away alive while leaving all the Asian men dead but he leaves with the only other Asian female character (Yukio) and wit the heart of the other. (Mariko)
A couple of things. Just because a white guy and an asian girl end up together, that doesn't make it inherently racist. Just pointing out a fact. Just like how Luke Cage and Jessica Jones having a relationship doesn't make it racist. Logan and Mariko had a genuine relationship that blossomed overtime and wasn't just "I'm immediately smitten with him". Also, why does it bother you so much that Logan and Yukio became friends and she decided to tag along with him? Does friendship now become reliant on racial relations? That's downright racist.
Also Asian women are the only ones worthy in combat?
Shingen was an incredible swordsman. Yashida was as well against Logan. You literally don't pay attention to the film for the sake of your own arguments.

The movie is set in Japan. I felt the opening scene built sympathy for the old man. I thought the movie showed the resilience of the Japanese people. I didn't see any of the asians as being weak not one. In fact, I saw Logan as the foreigner and the weak one when compared to the Japanese. All of the virtues that make up a samurai are a contrast to how Logan acts in real life. The asian men seem really fearless. Logan can at least heal and he can't really die so there's no real "honor" for him. Eventually his strength becomes his weakness. Im not asian so I can't really speak for asians but I will say I didn't see them as weak. I saw them as the exact opposite in this film. Fearless samurai. The dude had serious PTSD from the only country that had the unfortunate episode of having not one but two nuclear weapons dropped on them. My two cents worth two cents.
