Stephen King Short Story

This is obviously a ripoff of Stephen King's short "The Long Walk" where you have to walk until the last one's standing.

I was just thinking that.

The Long Walk is one of King's that I have always waned to see put into a movie.......... that would be a good movie if done the right way!

At first glance of the plot blurb, I was thinking Edmund Cooper's "Sea Horse in the Sky", but when it turns out everyone is racing to die, I started thinking more 'Death race 2000".
In hindsight, I wonder how much influence Cooper's novel had on "Lost"?

That was exactly my first thought when I read this synopsis too - that it's just a ripoff of the King story (which is one of my all-time favourite of his works). But as much as I love the story, I always thought that "The Long Walk" should never be made into a film. So many of the disturbing elements of that tale were psychological, the terrifying thoughts that ran through the protagonist's mind as he faced the crushing of his adolescent illusion of immortality, that you could never translate them properly into a movie that could do the story justice.

That said, while "The Human Race" seems to have obviously borrowed it's premise from the King story, it seems to be different enough in execution to fly under the copyright radar.
