Most Wes Andersony movie ever?

That's what it appears to be from the trailer.

Paul Schrader says as much;

ASTEROID CITY. The most Wes Anderson film Wes Anderson has made. And for that reason the best. He has distilled his design-driven anti-empathy film style to its essense. It's hard to find a comparable film. The one that comes to mind is "Last Year at Marienbad." I'm heartened that it opened so well. though not quite sure why.

I saw it tonight, and it felt like the opposite to me. It definitely has elements of his style, and it isn't some massive departure from his past work, but it's the least like anything else in his body of work of anything he's done so far. I absolutely think it is the least Wes Andersony of any of Anderson's films to date.

The trailer does look pretty Wes Andersony.

Not that this is a bad thing.

I thought it was the least Wes Anderson film in his career.

Well that's hopefull. No strange, strained scenes?

It’s about a writer trying to write a play and then failing. It’s different

I would say either this or French Dispatch. In a good way here and in a bad way for French Dispatch.

I saw it today and it is definitely Wes Anderson being Wes Anderson in the most Wes Anderson way possible.

what's your rating.

8/10. I liked the look of the movie and the cast. It's very quirky and oddball.
