the POST YOUR AGE thread :)

So I'll start.
I saw this film (which was generally portrayed as "with old people for old people") and thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the humour, indian culture, portrayal of the elderly, sense of optimism etc. Had its faults obviously, but I thought it surpassed average films.

Anyway, this thread is for posting your age alongside your rating:

16 - 7.5/10

Won't watch again however, as I feel theres little to gain from rewatching this type of film. It will however remain in my memory as the entertainment it was.

53--8.5/10. Was not familiar with the movie, but some of the actors hooked me in: Judi Densch, Tom Wlkinson, Maggie Smith, and Bill Nighy. I enjoyed the movie from start to finish, except I could have done without the young Indian hotel operator's tribuations with his girlfriend and his mother's objections. During those scenes, I kept wanting to get back to the older hotel patrons. There were some great lines, and overall good writing. The most resonant parts, for me, were how this group of stangers became supportive friends and showed courage starting new lives in another country where things didn't turn out as expected. It's nice to see some people under 30 posting that they liked it. And I appreciated a film with over 50 year-old-characters who embraced life, took chances, and came out better off for it. A real gem.

68 Nice feel-good movie. But it is not life. For those <40, wait until you get here.

I thought it looked good when I saw trailers, and so cool to see yet another film starring Maggie Smith and Judi Dench (what it this, their 4th or 5th film together?)... besides Ms. Smith and Ms. Dench, the rest of the cast was also excellent, and watching these characters navigate a culture that most of them were not familiar with -- good stuff. Their individual stories were interesting, and I love that every character went through some rite of passage, they evolved... proving that it's never too late to learn something new.

I think the direction and editing are weak, which leads me to believe that someone from on high was rushing the process. What a shame!!!

The acting is wonderful. I'm OK with the skipping of the common problems of old age. I live with them every day; I don't need to see them on the big screen.

Almost 62. I just saw this movie on saturday on HBO, never even heard of it before, and I LOVED IT, esp. since I am retiring in January 2014. I just LOVE the cast, esp. Bill Nighy. I learned a lot from this film, I would even watch it again. AND I will recommend it.

@moonchildiva-- Take my word, like me and my friends, you'll end up buying it. Here's the best piece of the score (played in the airport before they all take off, with that fantastic line-up of all the characters in the waiting-room): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WzTBH64aUU&list=PL8OKhllaK9lcAPlAK WyVuUXekLQ1MLxsP&index=7

I enjoyed it. It was nice seeing a lot of the classics together in a movie and while the plot might not have been fully developed for all of the characters, what was there was nice.
